Job Summary

This position is responsible for providing public education and raising awareness on a variety of City programs and initiatives including but not limited to waste reduction wildlife awareness and water management initiatives and services. Working under the general direction of a Supervisor employees in this class will tour the City educating citizens in a variety of forums and locales including elementary and secondary schools malls and parks as well as participate in any number of local community events along with delivering products and promotional material door-to-door. The incumbent exercises some independence of judgement and action in the performance of assigned duties within established guidelines practices and procedures while unusual or complex problems are referred to a supervisor who reviews work performance in terms of accuracy completeness conformance with established practices and procedures

The Training Manual Requirements pre-qualifications for this position are:

  • Completion of Grade 12
  • Completion of two post-secondary courses in environmental studies communications social media program public relations or marketing
  • Minimum 70% score in Microsoft Word using a City Administered test or successful completion of accredited course in Microsoft Word (1.5 credits)
  • Minimum 50% score in Microsoft Excel using a City Administered test or successful completion of accredited course in Microsoft Excel (1.5 credits)
  • Business Communications or Professional Writing Course (3 credits)

The Class Specification requires a Drivers License for the Province of British Columbia Class 5 and is a job requirement.
