Job Summary
Job SummaryThe Queens Journal is an entirely student-run newspaper at Queens University. The paper was founded in 1873 and has been continually published ever since. The Journal publishes a bi-weekly print edition and regular online content throughout the year.A writing sample must be e-mailed to at the time of your application submission to supplement your application. Please include your name and the position title in the files CompetenciesCommunicationOrganizationOwnershipAttention to DetailCultural SensitivityCreativityJob DutiesWith a co-editor publish one feature weekly (for Friday publication)Edit and fact-check each storyAttend all in-print press days to lay out stories in the paper (occurs every other Thursday)For both in-print and online-only press day upload stories to The Journals website (occurs every Monday and Thursday for the first six weeks of each semester and every Thursday for the last six weeks of the semester)Work with the Production Manager and visuals team to develop visual content for each storyRespect and adhere to all company policies procedures and ethical standardsMaintain timely communication with your direct supervisorAttend and fully participate in all in person and virtual meetingsComplete all assigned tasks efficiently and attentivelyStrive to foster a warm comfortable and respectful atmosphere for allAlways serve as a representative of the AMS and its mission statementComplete other job duties as assignedJob RequirementsSound analytical thinking planning prioritization and execution skillsAbility to thrive in a fast-paced environmentWorking ConditionsInteraction and collaboration with coworkers management and the Queens community
