Working as part of a cross-functional team you lead the R&D activities required to complete new product development and maintain portfolios and/or productivity projects keeping in mind the goal to deliver the desired consumer experience.

How you will contribute

• You will work independently to plan lead and coordinate technical projects in line with R&D marketing and manufacturing requirements.
• You will plan lead and coordinate development activities at the Lab/benchtop level to better understand the Gum Base and Encapsulation product technology (e.g. Formulation development (focusing on Structural Chemical and Physical aspects of the materials used) and modification product shelf-life testing designing for quality consumer test preparation. etc.).
• You will effectively communicate status and risks and plan lead and coordinate pilot plant and factory trials in accordance with good manufacturing practice and HACCP requirements.
• To provide direction for product development both locally and globally you will use digital simulation models to obtain understand and interpret consumer insights and commercial information.
• In this role you will create and maintain accurate consumer-led specifications and be responsible for stakeholder management and influencing decisions based on conclusions made from analysis and interpretation of results.

What you need to know about this position:

The candidate will be responsible for delivering a variety of projects within the Global Gum Base and Encapsulation portfolio - such as maintaining and optimizing products supporting capacity expansion efforts and delivering against quality and margin management goals.

The candidate must be versatile able to work in cross-functional teams and be capable of working proactively across multiple projects. The candidate should be able to leverage experts/partners to ensure compliance to documentation shelf life regulatory requirements FTO/IP and confidentiality requirements.

Possess a strong understanding of the functional characteristics of polymeric materials ingredients packaging materials and process unit operations including how they impact finished products to meet consumer expectations.

Education / Certifications:

BS / MS in Polymer Science Chemistry Chemical Engineering or related field.

Job specific requirements:

Minimum of 5-8 years experience preferably in the Chemical Polymer or food industry.
Strong technical foundation and a high level of technical curiosity.
Ability to develop and drive technical project with proper scientific rigor: conduct appropriate testing gather and analyze data and develop recommendations based on findings.
Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects prioritize and manage complexity- from bench top to execution.
Participate in cross functional teams to identify and resolve technical issues.
Excellent written and oral communication skills; able to effectively communicate to all levels within the organization

Travel requirements:

Travel up to 30% to global locations (US LATAM Europe Asia)

Work schedule:

This is a full-time role and could be based in East Hanover NJ or in Mexico City with in-office expectations of 2-3 days per week.
