The Mechanical TMM Foreman is responsible to ensure a safe efficient and productive engineering maintenance through the supervision of a team of artisans on TMM Sub Shaft section. This must be done according to regulations and all laws relevant to the tasks.
Job responsibilities include:
- Team employee selection
- Approved monthly budget expenditure
- Planned maintenance priorities
- Allocation of resources within section
- Setting daily weekly and monthly technical targets
- Interpretations of legal standards
- Shutting down the section if necessary for maintenance
- Determining work priorities
- Calling out specialist expertise when problems occur
- Changing plans and schedules on the shift to minimize the effect of unexpected problems
- Stopping the operation if the working conditions are unsafe
- Agreeing employees leave and overtime
- Identifying employees suitable for further training
- Disciplining of employees to agreed parameters and procedures
This role is at a C5 level reporting to the Section Engineer Production.
Qualifications :
- Grade 12/ N3 engineering studies
- Trade certificate
- Forman Certificate
Experience
- Five years of qualified post trade experience
- Supervisory experience would be advantageous
Knowledge and Skills
Hands-on experience with underground mining equipment including:
- Sandvik DD211 development drill
- GHH (Komatsu) SLP08 LHD
- Fletcher Bolter 3115 AD/E
- UV60 utility vehicles
Proficient in full machine lifecycle tasks including:
- Disassembly and assembly of equipment on surface and underground
- Component change-outs rebuilds and mechanical/electrical alignments
Strong competency in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for equipment breakdowns with the ability to:
- Identify systemic causes of failures
- Implement defect elimination strategies
- Track and close corrective actions to prevent recurrence
Able to develop and optimize maintenance strategies and procedures aligned with:
- Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) principles
- RAM methodology (Reliability Availability and Maintainability) to improve equipment performance KPIs and lifecycle effectiveness
- Ability to interpret equipment performance trends and use data-driven insights to support continuous improvement in reliability and maintenance execution.
