Job Summary
Introduction to role:
Are you ready to connect the dots and propel AstraZeneca forward As a Solution Architect youll ensure our technical solutions align with defined reference architecture and technology standards. Youll play a pivotal role in implementing consistent architecture decisions across business and IT providing architectural expertise and technical direction for system development and integration projects. Specializing in at least one architecture domain youll be at the forefront of designing architectures that enhance our Information Services/Information Technology solutions.
Accountabilities:
In this dynamic role youll be accountable for providing solution design support in one of the focused domains of architecture: Data Application or Infrastructure.
- Design architectures and solution blueprints that address business/application/data/infrastructure requirements.
- Collaborate with Business Analysis and Solution Engineering functions to support functional & technical requirements management including driving software selection processes.
- Ensure solution architectures and designs are robust and meet business application information and infrastructure architectural requirements.
- Architect and design comprehensive solutions aligned with AstraZenecas Enterprise Architecture to support a given portfolio.
- Partner with project managers business analysts and solution engineers to create solutions that adhere to AstraZeneca architecture standards and principles leverage common solutions and services and meet financial targets.
- Accountable for solution evaluation and selection buy vs. build decisions and early-phase project estimates contributing to the business case.
- Provide technical & IT expertise support to project teams and conduct AZ architectural reviews throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure compliance with existing EA guidelines and standards and EA Software Standards.
- Contribute to project and service teams in developing implementing and maintaining standard architectural components.
- Work with third-party suppliers as required and contribute to creating local or functional design documents.
- Verify technical development and delivery with third-party suppliers adhere to the Architecture Roadmap Blueprint and Information Services Strategy.
- Document all architecture analysis and design work.
- Develop strong knowledge and expertise in at least one architecture domain.
- Contribute to developing the Architecture Capability within Information Services by documenting and sharing knowledge and best practices with peer Architects.
Essential Skills/Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in solutions architecture software development or a related IT field.
- Bachelors in Computer Science Information Technology Software Engineering or a related field.
- Proven development/design experience in at least one technical domain.
- Experience developing innovative solutions blueprints and standards for solution design.
- Experience implementing and maintaining business solution architectures under any formal framework for their domain of architecture.
- Experience developing and managing relationships with 3rd party suppliers.
- Strong networking skills with good internal/external links.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to lead teams.
- Ability to interpret and communicate technical information into business language.
- Awareness of developments in the marketplace for domain focus and potential impact on AZ IS.
- Ability to lead inspire and manage a team of solution architects.
- Skills in setting clear objectives and performance expectations for team members.
- Capability to mentor team members providing support and guidance for professional growth.
- Ability to conduct regular one-on-one meetings and performance reviews.
- Expertise in fostering collaboration among team members ensuring effective teamwork.
- Managing conflicts within the team promoting a positive and productive team culture.
- Encouraging a culture of continuous improvement within the team.
- Ability to promote knowledge sharing and learning opportunities.
