Job Summary

Lake Norman Charter is seeking qualified candidates for Part-Time District School Psychologist for the 2026-2027 school year. The position will serve the LNC K-12 district and is part of the Exceptional Children department.

Part-Time District School Psychologist

Position Type: Part Time (28 hours/week) 10-month

FLSA Status: Exempt

Location: Lake Norman Charter Huntersville NC

Reports to: Director of Exceptional Children

Purpose: Lake Norman Charter (LNC) is a K-12 public charter school that provides a rigorous and comprehensive educational environment to develop students with a focus on college readiness leadership and social responsibility.

Summary: The LNC School Psychologist supports K-12 students academic social emotional and behavioral development through assessment problem-solving data-based decision-making and evidence-based interventions. They collaborate with educators families and other professionals to create supportive learning environments and provide services aligned with the North Carolina Professional School Psychologist Standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conducts comprehensive evaluations assessing intellectual developmental academic social-emotional and behavioral functioning.
  • Administers informal and non-standardized assessments and gathers relevant data to inform decision-making and recommendations.
  • Collaborates with teachers and administrators to address the academic behavioral and social-emotional needs of individual students and student groups.
  • Participates in and supports school-based teams in implementing multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS) to promote student success.
  • Analyzes and interprets student data to develop implement and monitor targeted intervention plans for struggling learners.
  • Contributes to school-wide initiatives designed to strengthen students social-emotional competencies and leadership skills.
  • Engages in ongoing professional development through trainings current research review and participation in professional organizations.

  • Ensures compliance with federal state and district policies including confidentiality and ethical guidelines.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
  • Knowledge of public school law ethics and standards of practice for School Psychology
  • Knowledge of the North Carolina Standard Course of Study (NCSOS) and its application to instructional planning and student support
  • Understanding of the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework for delivering comprehensive educational and behavioral supports
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively engage teachers administrators students and families
  • Ability to analyze and interpret student data to develop meaningful recommendations and support informed decision-making
  • Ability to work independently manage multiple responsibilities and meet established timelines
Additional Duties
  • Attends student meetings/conferences to discuss individual performance as needed.

  • Performs additional duties as assigned by the Director of Exceptional Children building principal or other designated administrative staff.

EDUCATION CERTIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Completion of an approved graduate program in school psychology resulting in a Specialist-level degree (Ed.S.) Masters or Doctorate (Ph.D./Psy.D.)
  • NC DPI Licensure
