Job Summary

Administrator County Central High School Vice-Principal

The Palliser School Division invites highly motivated educators who have demonstrated exceptional leadership to apply for the position of Vice-Principal at County Central High School. The position will begin on August 21 2026 or on a mutually agreed date. The successful candidate will be a pedagogical leader who possesses excellent interpersonal skills a proven record of excellence in teaching evidence of success in leading and encouraging professional learning and a willingness to be involved in the extracurricular activities of the school. Administrative duties will include an active role in instructional leadership and all aspects of school leadership.

County Central High School

County Central High School operating in Vulcan AB is best described as primarily academically focused with an extensive Career and Technology Studies component. A full range of complementary courses for both junior and senior high is offered as well. County Central students have continually achieved at a very high level on Provincial Achievement Tests and Diploma Exams. The school has been the beneficiary of a number of extensive renovations in the past which has resulted in an older but excellent facility. The Cultural Recreational Centre (CRC) is attached to the school making available to the school and the community the best sporting and cultural venue in the region. The Vulcan Body Works Club is another addition to the school operating with a first rate high-tech fitness centre squash/racquetball court and aerobics area.

Job Requirements

  • Masters Degree in Education or a related field (or in the process of obtaining one)
  • Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate
  • Exemplary teaching and administrative experience
  • Strong leadership and management skills
  • Commitment to establishing positive working relationships with staff parents and community partners
  • Commitment to establishing partnerships and is knowledgeable about indigenous cultures traditions and values
  • Experience in multi-grade level classrooms
  • Willingness to explore innovative approaches to learning
  • Commitment to work with Palliser School Division and to lead the development of transformational approaches to learning
  • Student-focused leader with a proven track record fostering excellence in student learning in an inclusive environment
  • Ability to provide effective leadership which fosters innovation collaboration respect and trust
  • Ability to work in partnership with parents and other stakeholders to support student growth and development
  • Strong interpersonal skills

Conditions of Employment

In order to maintain a safe and secure working environment applicants new to The Palliser School Division must provide:

  • Criminal Record Check including vulnerable sector check from Local Police Service or RCMP detachment
  • Social Insurance Number (SIN) card or document issued by Service Canada. SIN card/document must be in current legal name. Name on SIN card/document must match your Government Issued ID and Criminal Record Check
  • Government issued ID - valid drivers license valid passport or Nexus card
  • Completed Alberta Intervention Check
