Job Summary

35% Application Development and Support
  • Designs develops maintains and supports software applications integrations and web-based systems independently or as part of a small standards-driven team.
  • Continuously seeks opportunities to improve automation efficiency performance security and maintainability.
20% Problem Solving and Solution Design
  • Researches analyzes and develops solutions to complex technical problems in alignment with project requirements functional needs and enterprise architecture standards.
15% Collaboration and Technical Leadership
  • Collaborates with functional stakeholders developers and members of the university community to understand project requirements and institutional context.
  • May lead project teams or serve as the technical lead for developers throughout the software development lifecycle.
10% Technical Strategy and Architecture
  • Contributes technical expertise toward the development of complex technical strategies supporting institutional initiatives systems and applications.
10% Quality Standards and Code Review
  • Ensures all deliverables meet established development standards security requirements and architectural guidelines.
  • Actively participates in and promotes a team culture of code walkthroughs peer review and knowledge sharing.
5% Communication and Reporting
  • Maintains regular communication with the Unit Manager providing project status updates technical insights and knowledge transfer to clients and peers.
5% Other Duties
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

  1. High School Diploma or GED and seven (7) years of relevant experience or Associates degree and five (5) years of relevant experience or Bachelors degree and three (3) years of relevant experience.
  2. Three (3) years of professional experience writing and maintaining complex SQL queries in a production environment.
  3. Two (2) years of professional experience developing and supporting Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) solutions in a production environment.
  4. Two (2) years of professional experience developing and supporting production webbased APIs (REST and/or SOAP).
  5. Two (2) years of professional experience working with relational database management systems (MySQL and/or Oracle) in a production environment.
  6. Two (2) years of professional experience working in a UNIXbased operating system environment (Linux preferred).


  1. Professional experience developing applications using objectoriented programming languages or frameworks as evidenced by application materials.
  2. Professional experience working with Oracle Integration Cloud as evidenced by application materials.

Position Overview
The Senior Programmer / Technical Lead works within a standards-based collaborative development environment to design develop maintain and support enterprise applications and integrations. This role contributes high-quality code provides advanced technical guidance and supports a variety of development initiatives using modern secure and efficient practices.

The incumbent must be adaptable and flexible as technical focus areas may shift based on organizational priorities. The position may lead small development teams or serve as a technical lead throughout the software development lifecycle. Continuous professional development is expected particularly in areas critical to the organization including web-based application development system integrations and mentoring other programmers.

Effective communication with peers campus partners data providers and management is essential to ensuring timely delivery of well-documented standards-compliant solutions.
