Job Duties

Western State Hospital is seeking a full time Food Service Tech III - Production Supervisor to provide supervision for the production area for the kitchen to include production of food for clients menu as well as the operations area as assigned to include sanitation tray assembly catering and Cafeteria service; coordinate production workloads equipment usage and production staff scheduling to ensure daily production needs are met; work with kitchen production manager and dietary staff to develop/revise production recipes for patient menu to meet nutritional consistency needs improve patient acceptability and cost effectiveness; work with other departmental areas to ensure integration of production with overall kitchen operations; and ensure practice of proper production and food safety practices in accordance with rules and regulations of the Virginia Department of Health (VDH).

Minimum Qualifications

- Basic knowledge of food service production and operations; of regulations and/or standards governing foodservice operations
- Prior work experience in institutional or hospital foodservice settings
- Basic understanding of nutrition and of general principles of supervision
- Experience in Food Service Supervision
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to read and write at high school level
- Ability to communicate with superiors and subordinates and coordinate with peers
- Ability to take work direction and prioritize and assign work tasks to subordinates.
- Ability to coordinate work projects and prioritize/perform multiple tasks. Ability to lift moderate weights (20 50 lbs).
- Performance of responsibilities also requires prolonged standing and walking on various surfaces and the ability to move over the campus in various weather conditions
