Duties and Responsibilities (Note: * Denotes Essential Functions)
- * Responsible for the overall management of the off-campus jobs database system (including correspondence maintenance checking for employer validity and data reporting).
- * Responsible for developing and sustaining established employer relationships as primary liaison for off-campus job database.
- * Responsible for educating students alumni and employers in usage of the off-campus job search database.
- * Responsible for coordinating off-campus employer recruitment activities to include but not limited to in-person class visits and tables on the mall.
- * Collaborate with programs to embed and maintain job prep skills development activities into instructional programs and services.
- * Research collect and analyze data and assist in the preparation of administrative reports related to program operations and administrative functions; assist in ensuring that pertinent data necessary to complete the reports is monitored and submitted in a timely manner.
- * Assist in the overall management of the day-to-day operations of the office including but not limited to student employment services assisting visitors receiving phone calls etc.
- * Responsible for the coordination of bi-annual career/job fairs; employer liaison/follow up maintaining participant database registration processing facilities request etc.
- * Provide supervision and training of Career Services Student Employees.
- * Responsible for assisting students with job preparation skills development (one-on-one or group setting) to include but not limited to: Resume and Cover letter Interview Skills Mock Interview Researching various companies workplace behavior expectations.
- Interface with the HCC campus external communications liaison to market events workshops and employer recruitment opportunities while utilizing various social media avenues to advertise events.
- Assist in developing a structure for routinely obtaining job placement and other data of students and alumni using the off-campus job search database.
- Assist in coordination and design of informative and instructional materials for presentations and/or workshops delivered by the Career Services department.
- Draft internal/external documents and correspondence including memos e-mails letters various requests etc. and reviews for accuracy and appropriateness.
- Identify concerns recommend/suggest possible solutions resolve discrepancies with consultation or assist in resolving issues.
- Perform routine work and assists on various department-wide projects and initiatives.
- Assist as back-up to advisory board meetings as needed.
- Provide and assist as back up to on-campus student employment specialist as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Possession of a baccalaureate degree in Business Education Communication Social Sciences or related field and 3 year(s) of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities for workforce development career and technical education continuing education student support services academic support services project management or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education knowledge skills and abilities as indicated.
- Considerable working knowledge of principles practices and techniques in the area of emerging research and policy about workforce development job preparation trends utilizing artificial intelligence resources career and technical education and gainful employment trends and/or continuing education as demonstrated by the broad knowledge of the full range of pertinent standard and evolving concepts principles and methodologies.
- Considerable working knowledge and understanding of applicable federal and state laws rules regulations and theories and systems associated with workforce development career and technical education and/or continuing education.
- Demonstrated ability to resolve wide-ranging complex problems through the use of creative reasoning and logic to accurately determine the cause of the problems and the resolution of the problems in an effective innovative and timely manner.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and present information and ideas clearly and accurately in writing verbally and by preparation of reports and other materials.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations groups team leaders and members and individuals.
- Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and apply word processing software.
- For supervisory work demonstrated ability to lead subordinates manage work priorities and projects and manage employee relations.
- Demonstrated experience in leading projects successfully and achieving measurable outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and organize documentation and complex information.
- Experience working with cultural social and economic diversity of Hawaiis student population.
- Experience providing job preparation and soft skills development workshops within a higher educational and or professional setting.
Desirable Qualifications
- Possession of a masters degree in Business Education Communication Social Sciences or related field.
- Familiarity with the UH system including its programs processes administration mission and purpose.
- Experience in training developing and/or coordinating educational programs.
- Experience developing and managing effective partnerships with Hawaii employers industry associations labor unions and/or government agencies.
- Knowledge of higher education research and/or initiatives about student success.
- Experience working within a community college setting.
- Experience developing and teaching job preparedness workshops in a career and technical education curriculum.
- Experience working and planning large employer and student recruitment events on a college campus.
