Position Highlights
Nebraska Medicine is seeking a talented and motivated individual to join us as a Medical Physicist Proton. This role is ideal for someone with a passion for radiation oncology and a commitment to delivering exceptional patient care. The position is based at the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha NE.
We are particularly interested in candidates with proton therapy experience strong analytical and problemsolving skills and excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
Our Mevion FIT Proton Therapy system is expected to begin upright patient treatments around March 2027. We are recruiting a motivated physicist to join our 3FTE proton physics team in 2026 within a Medical Physics Group that currently includes 10 medical physicists and 4 medical physics residents.
This position offers a unique opportunity to help build a new proton therapy program from the ground up. The selected candidate will receive protontherapy training collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to design and implement clinical workflows and contribute to the ongoing development of program operations. A faculty appointment at the University of Nebraska Medical Center will be granted.
Candidate must have Proton therapy experiences in treatment planning machine and patient QA.
ARIA and Raystation experience preferred and Photon and HDR experience are valuable

Medical Physicist Proton Description:
Serve as Radiation Oncology Medical Physicist to support our Proton Therapy Program.Collaboratingwith clinical and medical staff on treatment simulation planning and the supervision of proton treatment delivery. Responsibilities also include performing equipment QA coordinating quality and safety programs working with service engineers and contributing to clinical research efforts.
Required Qualifications:
M.S. or Ph.D. in Medicalphysicsor PhD in Physics required.
Completion of a CAMPEP accredited residency in Therapeutic Medical Physics required.
Acquirefull ABR Board certificationin Therapy Medical Physicswithin 5 years of employment required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Minimum twoyearsProton therapy experience is highly preferred.
Experience in treatment planning withRayStationTPSpreferred.
ABR Board Certification in Therapy MedicalPhysicspreferred
