The Bilingual Lead Teacher for the Unaccompanied Childrens Program oversees curriculum development and implementation in five to ten classrooms located on three Maryville sites. He/she supervises approximately eight bilingual teachers (principally English/Spanish and English/Pashto) and participates in leadership team of the program. The Lead Teacher is a grant position related solely to the Unaccompanied Childrens Program as funded by the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR)and any successor funding.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Supervises a team of teachers and instructional assistants on three site locations
Oversees curriculum and implementation in six academic subjects - Oversees the coordination of the learning process across campuses
- Observes classroom instruction and reviews lesson plans weekly
- Establishes collaborative relationships with colleagues consultants therapists and administrators
- Maintains the required educational certifications and training required of all Maryville Academy employees
- Facilitates in-service trainings and staff development opportunities and providing input and suggestions for future topics and directions
- Interacts with students in a supportive professional manner
- Provides coverage (substitute teaching) for teachers on leave or due to absence
- Monitors the documentation of all required assessments and progress reports required of the teaching staff
- Documents Significant Incident Reports in line with ORR policy and procedures
- Ensures zero tolerance of sexual abuse in the school and recreational environment
- Maintains appropriate confidentiality regarding all information about students
- Keeps materials and assigned space in a neat and orderly condition
- Attends a minimum of 40 hours advanced training/workshops on an annual basis;
- Other duties as assigned.
Salary Range: $93000 - $96000 a year.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education/Experience:
Masters Degree in Education Management or Administration
Licensure to teach by the State of Illinois Board of Education
Minimum of 5-6 years teaching experience or comparable experience in educational management or systems development for learning environments
Demonstrated supervisory experience
Valid Illinois Drivers License.
Skills /Knowledge:
Bilingual English/Spanish language competency required
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with students supervisors coworkers subordinates support agencies and a variety of internal as well as external consumers
Basic computer proficiency including working knowledge of MS Word Excel and PowerPoint
Skill in organizing and prioritizing workloads to meet deadlines.
