The Opportunity

Envision Advantage Engineering is seeking a Mechanical HVAC System Design Engineer to support and lead mechanical design projects across commercial and institutional building types. This position is ideal for an engineer who enjoys hands-on HVAC design engineering problem solving and working within a coordinated MEP team.

Youll work directly with Principals and senior engineers and have a clear path for growth into Project Engineer / Project Manager / Lead Mechanical Engineer responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

HVAC / Mechanical Systems Design

• Design and engineer HVAC systems including air distribution equipment selections hydronic systems and mechanical room layouts

• Perform heating/cooling load calculations ventilation analysis and energy-related evaluations

• Develop mechanical system concepts from early design through construction documentation

• Select equipment and write schedules specifications and basis-of-design narratives

Project Delivery & Documentation

• Produce HVAC construction documents including plans schematics details and equipment schedules

• Coordinate mechanical work with electrical plumbing architectural and structural disciplines

• Support the full project lifecycle: schematic design design development CDs bidding and CA

Coordination & Client Support

• Participate in design meetings coordination calls and consultant reviews

• Respond to RFIs/submittals and provide construction administration support

• Collaborate with commissioning/design teams to support high quality project turnover

Mentorship & Growth (depending on experience)

• Mentor junior designers/engineers and support internal design standards

• Assist with QA/QC review of mechanical drawings and calculations

• Support project planning schedules and workload forecasting

Required Qualifications

• 412 years of experience in mechanical HVAC design (MEP consulting engineering or similar)

• Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering field

• Strong knowledge of HVAC design and building mechanical systems (airside and hydronic)

• Experience preparing mechanical construction documents for real-world construction

• Ability to coordinate with multi-discipline teams and manage competing deadlines

Preferred Qualifications (Highly Valued)

• Professional Engineer (PE) license OR actively progressing toward licensure

• Revit HVAC design proficiency (or strong AutoCAD willingness to work in Revit workflow)

• Familiarity with ASHRAE standards and common mechanical codes

• Experience with:

  • Central plant / chilled water / boiler systems

  • DDC controls integration and BMS design coordination

  • Specialized environments (lab isolation rooms critical cooling/data rooms) (Envision Advantage LLC)

• Independently complete HVAC designs with minimal supervision on assigned projects

• Deliver accurate buildable mechanical documents that reduce RFIs and field conflicts

• Demonstrate strong internal coordination with electrical/plumbing/technology teams

• Earn trust with Principals by owning deadlines communication and documentation quality
