Please read below for additional details and let us know if you have the skills and experience we are looking for by submitting your the Position:The Humane Education Content Developer develops print and digital education and communication materials for the BC SPCAs Humane Education programs. Primary areas of concentration will be researching producing and curating content for Humane Education publications and coordinating their production. Additional responsibilities will include developing content for and maintaining website materials assisting with promotion of Humane Education programs and supporting related specific duties:Content Production (75%):Researches writes and curates content for quarterly publication of Bark! magazine and monthly publication of e-Kids e-newsletter; coordinates content from additional and proofreads humane education regular production of Bark! e-Kids plus other education materials as to the development of annual Humane Education publications plan. Communications & Administration (25%):Regularly updates humane education content on the Societys website and represents Humane Education at Public Campaigns and Programs meetings. Coordinates survey and assessment activities which may include facilitating surveys through Humane Education publications working with volunteers to analyze results or other activities as required. Maintains and updates the Humane Education Hub within staff portal. Participates in regular team planning meetings and contributes ideas that are in keeping with the overall strategic direction of the organization as a whole and the Public Engagement & Social Change department in approved implements part or all of the assigned initiatives/ with the editing and proofing of public communication pieces such as curriculum materials lesson plans and activities press releases and other public education materials. Other related duties as required. Qualifications you need to have:Post-secondary education in communication education or journalism plus 2 years related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience acceptable to the employer. Related experience includes but is not limited to:exceptional written communication and editing skillsmarketingpreparing content that appeals to diverse groups especially youth and equity-seeking groupsexperience working in education environmentsyouth-related work/volunteer experienceexperience working with the not-for-profit sector is an assetExperience with concepts related to animal welfare and/or experience working directly with ability to share complex concepts in a creative accessible and professional organizational skills coupled with the ability to multi-task and pay attention to ability to work independently under minimal supervision as well as part of a -solving and critical thinking ability to use technology to efficiently write produce edit and distribute engaging with Microsoft 365 required. Experience with WordPress Raisers Edge Canva and/or MailChimp are knowledge of and commitment to the principles of equity diversity inclusion and harmony with the vision mission values and strategic directions of the BC SPCA.
