This position is with The City of Edinburgh Council based at Benmore Outdoor Centre Argyll PA23 8QX. The post holder will benefit from local authority terms and conditions of employment.

You will play a vital part in the young peoples experience at Benmore Outdoor Centre.

We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Handyperson to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in performing various tasks in the Centre involving minor maintenance and repairs. To undertake duties concerning minibus transport undertake a range of cleaning and household duties and stores equipment maintenance.

This position requires attention to detail and a commitment to providing high-quality cleaning services.

The role will suit a positive and enthusiastic individual who takes pride in performing their duties to a high standard and contributing to quality service delivery. We are seeking a team player who engages well with others is flexible and adaptable to service needs. Our Handyperson provides a range of duties to ensure a safe clean and well presented environment for the groups and guests visiting our outdoor centre and associated self-catering properties.

Key duties are general cleaning and maintenance tasks across an expansive site ensuring a clean safe and secure environment - you will need to be organised and work efficiently and safely within company policies seeking advice and guidance when necessary.

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. Responsibilities

Knowledge skills and understanding:

  • Ability to undertake general maintenance and cleaning tasks
  • Experience and knowledge of Health and Safety guidelines as they pertain to working in a residential environment e.g. COSHH (Desirable)
  • Experience and knowledge of Infection Control Procedures (Desirable)
  • Access to own transport & Full clean driving licence with D1 and D1E. (Desirable)

Qualifications and training:

  • General level of literacy.

Job specific requirements:

  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as required.
