Journeyperson Electrician

Classification: Hourly Non-Exempt

Position Type: Full-Time Operations

Reports to: Plant Foreman

Position Summary

We are seeking a licensed Journeyperson Electrician providing expert electrical services across our various industrial uranium mining and processing operations. This role supports plant facilities wellfield operations motor control centers (MCCs) booster stations and administrative buildings. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in industrial and commercial electrical systems with a strong understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC) schematics and blueprint reading. This role offers an opportunity to work on diverse projects including new installations renovations and maintenance utilizing a wide range of electrical tools and techniques. Candidates should have a solid background in low and high voltage systems programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and low voltage wiring ensuring safe and efficient electrical operations on-site.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

Install troubleshoot repair and maintain industrial electrical systems in accordance with NEC standards
Read and interpret blueprints schematics and technical diagrams
Install replace and test wiring for electrical and instrumentation systems
Work with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and low-voltage automation systems
Perform safe wiring and termination of low and high voltage circuits
Test replace and troubleshoot:
480V motors
Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
Soft starts
Switchgear components (fuses indicator lights)
Control transformers
Connect and disconnect motors
Install and troubleshoot pump panels
Perform preventive maintenance on:
Switchgear and control panels
Electric motors
MCC buildings and booster stations
Inspect overhead/high lines for defects to prevent major failure
Replace lighting in office areas plant operations and wellfield locations
Troubleshoot HVAC electrical systems
Replace capacitors and control panels for freshwater wells
Thread and install Rigid Metal Conduit (RMC) and PVC-coated RMC
Conduct grounding inspections on tools and cords
Maintain detailed documentation of completed work
Strictly adhere to Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures
Ensure compliance with all OSHA regulations NEC codes and company safety standards
Perform additional duties as assigned

Working Conditions

Exposure to extreme heat high humidity direct sunlight and variable weather conditions
Industrial noise levels requiring hearing protection
Rotating mechanical equipment energized electrical systems
Motor control centers (MCCs) switchgear transformers high lines and pump stations
Dust drilling fluids process chemicals and industrial cleaning agents/chemicals
Naturally Occurring Radioactive Material (NORM) and uranium-bearing solutions in controlled environments
Remote wellfield locations requiring travel on unpaved roads and uneven terrain
Comply with arc flash safety standards and energized work protocols

Physical Demands

Standing and walking for extended periods
Frequent bending kneeling stooping crouching and climbing ladders or stairways
Working at heights from ladders platforms or elevated structures
Accessing confined spaces such as MCC rooms control panels and equipment enclosures
Lifting and carrying materials tools and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds independently (heavier items with assistance)
Pulling and terminating electrical cable including RMC and PVC-coated conduit installation
Repetitive use of hands for fine motor tasks such as wiring terminations and instrumentation connections
Working in energized environments requiring high levels of situational awareness
Visual acuity sufficient to read schematics blueprints digital meters and instrumentation displays
Ability to distinguish wire colors accurately
Ability to wear required PPE including arc flash and respiratory for extended durations
Candidates must be able to successfully complete: pre-employment physical examination (if applicable) respirator medical clearance (if required)

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

Current and valid TDLR Journeyman Electrician License
Proven experience as an industrial or commercial electrician
Strong knowledge of NEC codes schematics blueprint reading and electrical theory.
Hands-on experience with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) motor controls VFDs low voltage wiring high voltage systems and schematics interpretation.
Proficiency with hand tools power tools and diagnostic testing equipment
Industrial site experience is preferred.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team on complex electrical installations or repairs.
Excellent problem-solving skills combined with attention to detail in troubleshooting electrical issues.
Must be able to read and write in English
Must have a valid drivers license
