Location Onsite across Staten Island and Manhattan. Westchester as needed.

Position Summary
The IT Rooms Operations Technician is responsible for day to day operations and project support across IDF and MDF rooms. This role focuses on low voltage cabling space management power and cooling. The technician partners with IT remediation facilities engineering security and networking teams to keep wiring closets clean documented secure and serviceable.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute daily operational tasks and assigned project work in IDF and MDF rooms
- Perform low voltage cabling work including cleanups labeling and remediation support
- Manage space utilization in frames cabinets and wall mounts
- Address power and cooling with facilities and engineering partners including UPS and power receptacle mapping
- Support day two activities after LVC remediations
- Conduct port scrubs by coordinating with the network engineering group then safely disconnect approved unused ports and remove dead cabling
- Clean out rooms and remove non compliant items to maintain serviceable conditions
- Decommission and coordinate removal of legacy equipment from IT rooms
- Create and update rack elevations and room documentation for all IDF and MDF spaces
- Track and complete tasks in ServiceNow SharePoint and project software
- Collaborate with security and site contacts to address closet access and security concerns
- Perform related duties as needed to maintain reliable closet operations
Day in the Life
- Start your day at an assigned site such as Staten Island or Manhattan based on priority
- Assess an IDF room using a standard checklist and document cabling condition power availability cooling and inventory
- Submit a port scrub request to the network team review the report and execute approved disconnects
- Remove dead cabling clean up frames and eliminate clutter or non-compliant items from the room
- Update rack elevations and room documentation including switch UPS and receptacle details
- Coordinate with facilities or engineering when power or cooling deficiencies are identified
- Move to the next assigned IDF or MDF and repeat or assist with LVC remediation tasks on active projects
Required Skills and Experience
- Hands on experience working inside IDF and MDF environments
- Low voltage cabling fundamentals including dressing labeling remediation and standards adherence
- Working knowledge of power in wiring closets including UPS micro pod concepts and common NEMA receptacle types such as L5-20 and L14-30
- Understanding of space power and cooling considerations for IT rooms
- Ability to read and update rack elevations and maintain accurate documentation
- Familiarity with coordinating port scrubs and executing approved disconnects
- Comfortable collaborating with facilities engineering networking and security teams
- Proficiency using ServiceNow SharePoint and basic project tracking tools
- Strong organizational skills attention to detail and ownership of assigned sites
Nice to Have
- Working knowledge of access and distribution switches at a high level. No switch configuration required
- Experience in healthcare environments or other sensitive production environments that require strict coordination and change control
- Prior participation in closet remediation projects and standards rollouts
Education
- Associate degree or bachelors degree preferred or equivalent hands-on experience
Work Model and Travel
- Onsite role across Staten Island and Manhattan with occasional Westchester coverage
- Routine travel between sites based on operational needs and response priorities
- Ability to use personal transportation or public transit as appropriate for the days route
Reporting and Team Structure
- Individual contributor working closely with the IT room remediation team and a project manager
- Direction provided by the hiring manager. No direct reports
Contract Term
- Initial term through the end of June with potential extension based on budget approvals
Hourly Pay Rate Range: $45hr - $50hr
