Core Research and Development Tasks:
Drive new development projects (NPI New Product Introduction Materials and Special).
Coordinate/Project manage all related product development activities: from Product Design Development/Manufacturing and Product Qualification Testing to Industrialisation.
Collaborate with global R&D teams to technology transfer new product and associated manufacturing processes.
Collaborate with process engineering team to define process variables (Equipment Tooling Machine) for design of experiment and conduct development trials on production lines.
Raise awareness of any new testing requirements for production (including In-process and Final test).
Track new products sales volumes using in-house software (Accolade) and Qliksense to drive new product sales targets.
Manage the yearly R&D Tax claim activities by providing technical explanation on trials & project progress plus project expenses and associated costs for the prior financial year.
Drive Design to Cost (DTC) Simplification and CSI projects or any other development project that results from Prysmians improvement initiatives.
Assist with the development and introduction of new materials.
Support Sustainability focused development and activities.
Assist Cable Design with new product enquiries/tenders to understand technical feasibility.
Participate in Product Council meetings by providing project updates.
Other Supporting Tasks:
Provide support to Process Engineering/Production/Quality Departments when required and assist with the introduction of new equipment technologies.
Support Commercial Department by developing cable related to installation/cable preparation documentation best practices (Work Instruction/ OPL) and recommend solutions.
Skills and Competencies:
Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with desk and non-desk workers.
Excellent planning organisational and time management skills.
Demonstrates a hands-on practical and proactive approach.
Ability to understand laboratory test and excellent interpretation of the testing results.
Good computer skills (Windows based) and Strong knowledge in Microsoft Office (Excel PowerPoint and Projects).
Good statistical knowledge (methods and software e.g. Minitab).
Strong ability to work independently for normal daily activities.
Strong ability to collaborate between interdisciplinary teams.
Experience in cable manufacturing and processing techniques highly desirable.
Knowledge of optical fibre communication cables desirable.
Good knowledge of AutoCAD (or similar package) to design tooling/read drawings desirable.
Familiarity in relevant Telecom Cable Standards and Regulation desirable.
Experience: At least 5 years in a similar role (i.e. Process Engineer Product Development Engineer)
Qualification: Tertiary qualifications in Engineering Mechanical Mechatronics Chemical or Materials
