Job Summary

Job SummaryThe Director of Facilities and Transportation provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for all district facilities maintenance custodial services capital projects and student transportation services. This position ensures that school buildings and grounds are safe compliant efficient and supportive of high-quality teaching and learning while also overseeing reliable safe and cost-effective transportation services for students and staff. This position plays a critical role in ensuring safe efficient and well-maintained learning environments while providing dependable transportation services that support student access and achievement across the ResponsibilitiesSupervision of all aspects of the facilities staff and district FunctionsLeadership & Strategic PlanningDevelop and implement long-range facilities and transportation plans aligned with the districts strategic planning design and execution of capital improvement projects renovations and new the Superintendent and School Committee on facilities conditions capital needs and transportation and monitor departmental goals performance metrics and service ManagementOversee maintenance custodial grounds and facility operations across all district compliance with all local state and federal laws codes and regulations (e.g. safety environmental ADA fire and building codes).Develop and manage preventative maintenance programs to extend asset life and reduce facility use scheduling leasing agreements and community partnerships related to district energy management and sustainability initiatives to improve efficiency and reduce ServicesDirect daily operations of student transportation including routing scheduling fleet maintenance and driver compliance with all applicable transportation regulations and safety efficient bus routes and transportation systems that prioritize student safety and driver recruitment training certification and performance vehicle procurement inspection and preventative maintenance & Financial ManagementDevelop administer and monitor departmental budgets for facilities and cost estimates and financial projections for capital projects and fleet and pursue cost-saving initiatives and funding opportunities including vendor selection contract negotiation and service & Risk ManagementMaintain comprehensive safety programs for facilities and transportation emergency preparedness planning related to facilities and timely response to facility emergencies and transportation risk management practices and insurance ManagementSupervise and evaluate facilities managers maintenance staff custodial staff transportation supervisors and a culture of accountability customer service teamwork and continuous professional development and training programs for department Knowledge/Skills/AbilitiesKnowledge of building systems (HVAC electrical plumbing) fleet management and transportation routing understanding of regulatory compliance and safety financial and budget management leadership communication and organizational to analyze data and implement operational in facilities management and transportation software and ExperienceBachelors degree in Facilities Management Engineering Construction Management Business Administration Public Administration or related field (Masters degree preferred).Minimum of 57 years of progressively responsible leadership experience in facilities management transportation operations or related field preferably in a K12 school district or public sector managing capital projects and supervising diverse RequirementsAbility to visit school sites and inspect facilities and fleet to respond to emergencies outside of regular business Duties The activities duties or responsibilities contained in this job description is not a comprehensive listing that are required of the employee.
