The opportunity:
As a Department Manager you are responsible for a single functional department within a division. This role is for the management of the Bay of Plenty Chip Seal Department.

You will coordinate all on site-forepersons employees plant resources and subcontractor teams. You could be involved in large projects in scope and size or multiple smaller projects.

In addition to the above you will:

  • Create manage and deliver annual financial budgets

  • Assist Divisional Manager with preparation of larger tenders quotes and estimates

  • Oversee contractual procedures for managing changes to scope of work for direct work and sub-contractor agreements

  • Work closely with internal and external customers to deliver complex programs and deliver all contracts to their respective due dates for completion

  • Forward planning organising and ordering of contract subbies survey materials plant and people

  • Ensure your team are provided with leadership and guidance to maximise performance

  • Build and maintain strong professional relationships with customers and other key stakeholders

  • Provide technical advice and support to direct reports and peers

  • Ensure safety environment and quality process are followed by the team

To be successful in this role you will:

  • BE or NZCE or significant industry experience (Diploma in engineering or relevant industry)

  • Minimum 5 years relevant experience

  • Experience managing and developing teams

  • Fluent in Microsoft office suite including MS Project

You will be a supportive and collaborative leader with a passion for developing and growing talent. You will have strong financial and business acumen.
