JOB TITLE: Physician
EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Per Diem
SCHEDULED HOURS: Varies 2-3 days per week

ABOUT THE PROGRAMS: DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS
To be a member of the core team responsible for the provision of Medication Assisted Treatment to the
inmate population within Department of Correction facilities.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform Physical Examination and Substance Use Disorder evaluation to determine eligibility for MOUD to be provided at the Opiate Treatment Program (OTP) level of care in the correctional setting.
- Provide Inductions of Methadone and Buprenorphine; provide Naltrexone/Vivitrol.
- Choose medication based on clinical indication and client choice.
- Engage with existing clients monitor symptoms manage and evaluate dose change requests.
- Recognize the importance of individual and cultural differences that influence behavior and applies such understanding to each patients situation.
- Review laboratory results and make referrals to Correctional Medical Services for medical problems that arise including screening for HIV/HEP.
- Work collaboratively with full member of the multidisciplinary treatment team including Substance Abuse Counselor Therapist Reentry Coordinator RN Coordinator LPN Medical Assistant.
- Coordinate care with Correctional Medical and Addiction Services Staff.
- Provide services in a manner that is consistent with CHR standards policies and procedures and ensure that CHR DOC MAT Programs are in compliance with National Commission on Correctional Health Care (NCCHC) standards and regulation.
- Participate in performance improvement plans education of providers CHR DOC Staff and Correctional staff.
- Coordinate care with referral sources and discharge agencies as needed.
- Relates to patients colleagues and DOC staff in a professional hopeful and respectful manner.
- Participate in supervision with Associate Medical Director or Medical Director.
- Maintain timely and comprehensive documentation.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: MD
Experience: 3 years of work in a setting that serves clients with substance use disorders preferred; Medication for Addiction Treatment.
Licensure/Certification/Registration: CT Physician License Buprenorphine Waiver
