Internal Vacancy Senior Grade Cardiac Physiologist (Full-Time Permanent)
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must demonstrate:
- Possession of a Physiologist / Clinical Measurement degree or equivalent recognised by the Irish Institute of Clinical Measurement Science (IICMS).
- A minimum of three years post qualification experience within a Cardiology Department.
- Evidence of advanced clinical competence in performing monitoring analysing and interpreting non-invasive cardiac diagnostic investigations.
- Demonstrated experience and clinical competence in one or more specialist cardiac areas (e.g. Echocardiography Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory or Cardiac Pacing / Device Management).
- Evidence of professional development and commitment to continuous learning
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously exercise sound clinical judgement and support junior colleagues
- Strong communication organisational and leadership skills
- A flexible and reliable approach aligned with service and departmental requirements
Key Responsibilities
The Senior Grade Cardiac Physiologist will be required to:
- Provide senior clinical leadership within the Cardiology Department supporting safe effective and high-quality patient care.
- Supervise support and guide staff including prioritising and allocating workload and promoting positive staff morale and effective team working in collaboration with the Line Manager and Hospital Management.
- Act as a clinical resource and mentor for junior staff and students supporting training competency assessment and professional development.
- Demonstrate readiness to assume delegated leadership responsibilities including taking a lead role within the department in the absence of the Manager or Chief Cardiac Physiologist.
- Maintain high standards of clinical documentation and compliance with clinical governance infection control health and safety and professional standards.
- Contribute to audit quality improvement service development and departmental planning.
- Actively engage in continuous professional development and promote a culture of learning within the team.
All staff are expected to remain flexible to meet the operational needs of the department and hospital. This is not an exhaustive list of duties. The Senior Grade Cardiac Physiologist will undertake such other duties appropriate to the role as may be assigned from time to time.
