Please read below for additional details and let us know if you have the skills and experience we are looking for by submitting your the Position:The Health Safety & Wellness Advisor is responsible for developing and supporting departments within the assigned portfolio in executing the BC SPCAs health safety and wellness programs; the overall goal being to reduce the risk of and improve the organizational response to occupational hazards enhance employee wellness and increase organizational productivity. With a focus on prevention and building resilience this position will provide advice and support in illness/injury management medical leave administration including return to work and specific duties:General Duties:Create coordinate and deliver programs that foster a safe healthy balanced and efficient work environment for staff and advice guidance training and coaching particularly to managers in the areas of the assigned employee medical leaves within assigned portfolio and liaise with external service providers to ensure claims processing and return to work planning are taking place organizational and employee-specific information as required to assist with both claims processing and return-to-work planning. This includes any sort of claim objections/ as a liaison between third-party providers and managers and provide subject matter expertise in the return-to-work planning with Employee Relations Specialist in cases where there is an overlap between performance/other operational factors and a and analyze trends provide data to inform reporting and identify areas of concern or opportunity along with feedback and assist in the evaluation of programs as in the development or revision of health and safety policies and in health safety and wellness-related projects as as project lead when appointed to do health safety and wellness-related documentation is kept up to date in filed in centralized updates/information to staff and volunteers on health safety and wellness-related matters regularly via submissions to the Staff Bulletin and Volunteer Newsletter as well as presenting at All Staff meetings and other operational meetings as input into budget planning related to health safety and wellness coverage for other Health Safety & Wellness positions during periods of with the internal Training Specialist on creating health safety and wellness learning and development material for use by all staff but especially by duties as -Specific Duties:Provide advice and guidance on non-WorkSafe related medical leaves including paid and unpaid sick leave short and long term in the creation promotion and evaluation of self-care and other wellness strategies and programs for staff and volunteer approved programs and initiatives designed to help employees improve personal mental health and aimed to improve workplace mental health manage short and long term disability leave claims process as indicated in general duties section managers in arranging critical incident debriefing through providers other than WorkSafe BC as the organizations monthly counselling program including liaising with approved counsellors and researching additional counsellors to be added navigating requests for additional sessions tracking attendance and troubleshooting any issues answering employee/manager questions and sending invoices to manager for the pre-employment psychological testing program including liaising with external provider hiring managers recruitment and regular compassion fatigue and other wellness-related learning opportunities and tools with staff and volunteers across all and liaise with the Employee Assistance Program and deliver organization-wide programming for mental health awareness week and any other endorsed wellness-related you need to have:Completion of a diploma or degree in Human Resources or Occupational Health & Safety plus eight (8) years of related experience or an equivalent combination acceptable to the EmployerProfessional designation and experience working in a unionized environment are considered assetsDemonstrated knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety legislation as well as Human Rights the Duty to Accommodate and privacy legislationEmotional intelligence and sound conflict resolution skills with an ability to understand broad complex organizational issues and competing ability to organize work meet priorities and work with demanding work within demanding work schedulesExcellent communication interpersonal and customer service skills; ability to relate respectfully to a diverse computer skills; high proficiency with Microsoft Office (particularly Excel Word PowerPoint and Outlook)Ability to exercise a high level of professionalism and discretion with confidential and sensitive informationExceptional analytical coaching and record-keeping harmony with the vision mission and strategic directions of the BC to apply:If you are interested in joining our Vancouver team and are legally entitled to work in Canada we would like to hear from you.
