Description of Work

This is a temporary position and there are no leave or retirement benefits offered with this position. Note: Permanent and time-limited NC State Government employees must separate from their permanent or time-limited position in order to work in a temporary position. All temporary employees are limited to one NC State Government temporary assignment at a time.

Individuals hired into a temporary State job must be fully qualified for the job. OSHR supports the Governors Job Ready initiative and seeks to expand a temporary skill set to enhance their qualifications for State government and private sector jobs. Exposure to an agencys culture process procedures and potential learning opportunities can provide valuable experience to those who may seek permanent employment with the state.

This temporary position is with NC Commerce Workforce Solutions located at 2836 Neuse Blvd. New Bern NC Craven County.

Job Order Hourly Rate of Pay: $19.00 (Based on education and/or years of relevant work experience reflected on the application).

This is a temporary consultative assignment providing information guidance and assistance to clients seeking employment and employers seeking workers through programs administered by the Department of Commerce Division of Workforce Solutions (DWS) and local workforce development boards in a career center environment.
The selected candidate may perform outreach activities and provide employment related services including job placement employer consultative services and program eligibility determination for a variety of DWS programs. Positions may refer clients to appropriate agencies for other services needed.
The selected candidate will also:
Use the NCWorks Online to navigate job seeker and employer functions
Provide remote customer support through Amazon Connect email and live chat platforms
Providing virtual career advising including job search assistance résumé guidance and platform troubleshooting.
Use Remote Access tools to support clients on external computers.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelors degree from an appropriately accredited institution with related experience in human resource administration case management job development and placement employment counseling vocational guidance and counseling social work vocational rehabilitation claims analysis or related public contact work dealing with job applicants and employers in a variety of functions; or Associate degree and two years of experience in human resource administration case management job development and placement employment counseling vocational guidance and counseling social work vocational rehabilitation claims analysis or related public contact work dealing with job applicants and employers in a variety of functions; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
