Job Title: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Med/Surg
Location: Syracuse New York 13210
Duration: 13 Weeks
Schedule: 36 Hours/Week Days or Nights
Day Shift: 7:00 AM 7:30 PM
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
Holiday Requirement: Some holidays as needed

Position Overview
A large academic acute care facility in Central New York is seeking experienced Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) for a 13-week assignment. Opportunities are available in Medical-Surgical and Emergency Department units. Final unit placement will be determined based on the candidates prior inpatient experience.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-paced acute care environment with minimal orientation and supervision.
Responsibilities
Patient Care
Provide direct patient care in an acute care setting
Perform patient assessments and document findings
Take and record vital signs and monitor patient progress
Assist physicians and RNs with patient care and procedures
Administer injections and assist with exams and other clinical procedures
Observe and report patient responses to treatments
Clinical Support
Prepare patients for examinations
Set up trays and equipment for procedures
Maintain exam rooms and clinical areas
Implement nursing care activities under direction of RN as outlined in care plans
Administrative & Coordination Duties
Schedule appointments and assist with reception duties
Prepare and maintain patient charts
Contact insurance providers for authorizations (PT MRIs CT scans surgeries etc.)
Obtain referrals from primary care providers
Participate in unit-based quality and management activities
Documentation
Qualifications
Active New York State LPN license
Current CPR certification (or ability to obtain/renew)
Minimum 1 year of inpatient experience required
Prior acute care experience preferred
Experience with Electronic Medical Records strongly preferred
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to work collaboratively with healthcare teams
