Relies on guidelines and education to complete job and works under general supervision.
Job Responsibility

- Performs all routine tests accurately within established turnaround times.
- Multi-tasks effectively within the scope of the departmental requirements.
- Works independently with minimal supervision utilizing available resources including MT/Supervisor when appropriate.
- Readily looks for additional tasks during periods of reduced workload.
- Adapts to changes or unusual circumstances in a way that promotes productivity.
- Quality
- Understands specimen requirements for each test and evaluates specimen for proper identification and integrity through visual checks and result evaluation
- Ability to recognize discrepant or unexpected test resultscorrelating data and monitoring results for reasonableness. Includes troubleshooting and documentation.
- Follows protocol for instrument maintenance running controls and accepting verifying and recording q.c. results.
- Recognizes and refers problems and questions outside of own expertise to appropriate supervisory personnel.
- Reports critical values to appropriate personnel with proper documentation to include read back.
- Compliance
- Adheres to safety and infection control policies and procedures.
- Complies with regulatory standards applicable to area(s) of responsibility.
- Complies with organizational/departmental policies and procedures including but not limited to confidentiality safety cooperation flexibility and attendance.
- Contributes to performance improvement activities of areas of responsibility.
- Team work / Customer service
- Interacts with coworkers in a way that promotes a harmonious and cooperative work environment.
- Interacts with clients patients physicians and other hospital personnel to maintain good customer relations and quality health care.
- Assists other areas when own workload allows or when a customer service need arises.
- Effectively communicates pertinent information to ensure continuity of care.
- Other duties as assigned
- Acts as a mentor in the training of students and new employees while fostering interest and knowledge.
Qualifications- Graduate of an accredited school of Medical Technology
- LSBME licensed or permit as CLS-T
