Job Summary
Role: Functional and Automation Tester.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive functional testing to ensure product quality and adherence to requirements.
- Design develop and maintain automation test scripts for web applications.
- Execute API testing to validate backend services and integrations.
- Conduct database testing to verify data integrity and accuracy.
- Collaborate with developers product managers and QA team members to identify report and track defects.
- Participate in test planning test case design and test execution.
- Contribute to improving the overall test automation framework and QA processes.
Primary Skills
- Strong hands-on experience in Functional Testing.
- Experience in Automation Testing using tools such as Playwright (preferred) or Selenium.
API Testing
- Intermediate knowledge of API testing.
- Experience with tools like Postman or similar API testing tools.
Database Testing
- Intermediate level knowledge of database testing.
- Ability to validate data using SQL queries.
FUNCTIONAL TESTER:
- Works with Product Owners and BAs to understand requirements (functional and non-functional)
- Creates and maintains test plan/suite of test cases (including expected and actual results) using QA test methodologies and standards.
- Executes test cases; defines the steps to reproduce the issue; categorizes the defect by severity; works with the product team to determine root-cause; verifies the fix.
- Automates test cases to achieve higher efficiency without sacrificing quality.
- Creates test cases and plans for integration and user acceptance testing.
- Automates test cases to achieve higher efficiency without sacrificing quality.
- Summarizes test results for the Product Owner (QA reporting)
- Participates and champions all agile/scrum ceremonies (or adherence to Kanban principles)
- Monitors sprint burndown charts to know when to ramp up/down the team to drive quality and velocity over time
AUTOMATION TESTER:
- Participates in automating test cases to achieve higher efficiency without sacrificing quality.
- Creates test cases for integration and user acceptance testing.
- Automates test cases to achieve higher efficiency without sacrificing quality.
- Summarizes test results for the Product Owner (QA reporting).
- Participates and champions all agile/scrum ceremonies (or adherence to Kanban principles).
EDUCATION / CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelors Degree (preference given to Business or Technology or Accounting major).
- Quality Assurance certification from an accredited program.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- 3-6 years experience tester on web-based products (including UI DB and APIs).
- Understanding of Quality Assurance processes for software application testing.
- Knowledge of designated testing tool suite such as Quality Center / Azure DevOps / Jira.
- Knowledge in SQL queries.
- Experience in working with REST APIs understanding of Soap APIs.
- Experience in API Testing and its automation tools like Postman.
- Understanding of Swagger API Platform.
- Understanding of HTML/CSS/JS or JQuery.
- Knowledge of bug life cycle SDLC Agile/Scrum/Kanban.
- Experience with version control systems GIT VSTS / Azure DevOps.
- Working knowledge of performance testing tools like JMeter LoadRunner (JMeter preferred).
