The Department of Surgery and Critical Care (Dunedin) located at Dunedin Hospital is a major teaching and research department within the Faculty of Medicine. The Department consists of nine sections based on the areas of staff expertise. We deliver excellence in undergraduate and postgraduate medical teaching and internationally recognised research.

The role Te mahi

The Department of Surgery and Critical Care has an exciting opportunity for a part-time fixed term position as an Assistant Research Fellow. The successful applicant will work within the Department of Surgery and Critical Care (Faculty of Medicine Dunedin) in the Orthopaedic Surgery section based in the Dunedin Hospital. This is an opportunity to develop research skills with the support of the research team by contributing to multiple research projects including writing for ethics applications developing data collection tools recruitment of participants into studies managing the data collection for these and preparation for publication.

Candidates will ideally have:
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
The ability to work independently and manage tasks within limited timeframes
Clear communicator and ready to ask questions
A background in health sciences medicine biomedical science or a related discipline is preferred
Familiarity with research processes including ethics applications and data collection

This is variable hours part-time fixed term (for one year) position based in Ōtepoti Dunedin.

The variable hours allow for the workflow for different project deliverables. Hours of work are negotiable with the successful candidate. Ideally you will work a minimum of 3.75hrs (0.1 FTE) each week and no more than 48 hours per month. Timesheets will be completed for hours worked.

The salary for this role is $62496 per annum on a pro-rata basis.
