JOB TITLE:

Program Coordinator Individual Placement Coordinator

JOB PURPOSE:

The Program Coordinator manages all aspects of the Wyoming Conservation Corps AmeriCorps Individual Placement program including member recruitment hiring training supervision and evaluation. This position serves as the primary liaison between AmeriCorps members and host site partners (government agencies and nonprofits) ensuring high-quality service experiences regulatory compliance and achievement of program objectives. The Program Coordinator is responsible for member development maintaining required documentation and reporting coordinating training and professional development opportunities and fostering strong partnerships with community organizations throughout Wyoming

This position is office based with required travel for member orientation and field visits throughout the summer.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Host Site Relations & Partnership Management - Serve as primary contact for all Individual Placement host sites; coordinate with Program Director to develop new placements; conduct site visits to assess placement quality and safety; troubleshoot site-related issues; facilitate communication between sites and WCC.
  • Member Recruitment & Hiring - Develop and implement recruitment strategies; coordinate outreach to colleges universities and community organizations; screen applications; conduct interviews; make hiring recommendations; manage onboarding processes including background checks eligibility verification and enrollment documentation for AmeriCorps and University systems.
  • Member Training & Orientation - Design and deliver comprehensive orientation and training programs for Individual Placement members; coordinate required AmeriCorps training; develop training materials and member handbook content; facilitate professional development workshops; develop position-specific training with host sites. Assist with Field Crew orientation and trainings.
  • Member Supervision & Support - Conduct regular check-ins with all Individual Placement members; provide coaching and mentoring; address performance issues; coordinate mid-term and end-of-service evaluations; facilitate conflict resolution between members and host sites; support member transitions after service completion. Assist with Field Crew visits as needed.
  • Compliance & Documentation - Maintain accurate and complete member files in compliance with AmeriCorps regulations; review and approve member timesheets within established deadlines; track service hours and project outputs; ensure completion of all required forms (eligibility background checks agreements). Collect and manage program performance data; prepare quarterly and annual progress reports; track member outcomes and achievements; document member stories and impact; maintain database records in AmeriCorps reporting systems; coordinate collection of evaluation data from members and host sites.
  • Program Planning & Development - Collaborate with WCC leadership to set program goals and objectives; identify new partnership opportunities; develop systems and processes for program improvement; contribute to grant applications and renewals; participate in strategic planning for Individual Placement program expansion; collaborate on shared AmeriCorps compliance and organization-wide activities; contribute data and narratives for grant applications and renewals.
  • Safety & Risk Management - Monitor Individual Placement member safety and compliance with WCC safety protocols at host sites; conduct site assessments during visits to identify potential hazards; serve as initial point of contact for member concerns or incidents; document safety issues and incidents according to WCC procedures; coordinate with host site supervisors to address safety concerns; complete incident reports and follow-up; participate in incident response and follow-up as directed.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

This position is primarily office based but will provide hands on instruction to members during field orientation and may provide technical support on field projects as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Bachelors degree Environment & Natural Resources or a related field.

Experience: 1 year work-related experience is required which may include: Experience recruiting training or supervising young adults; Conservation corps crew leadership or program support; Youth or young adult program coordination; Nonprofit program management; Environmental education or outdoor recreation programming; Student services career development or experiential learning coordination.

Substitution: Relevant professional experience may substitute for formal education on a year-for-year basis. Four years of progressively responsible experience in program coordination AmeriCorps administration conservation corps operations or related fields may qualify in place of a bachelors degree.

Required licensure certification registration or other requirements:

  • Hire contingent on satisfactory National Service Criminal History Check.
  • Valid drivers license with a motor vehicle record (MVR) compliant with the Driving for University Business SAP.

  • Wilderness First Responder (WFR) certification is required before first field season.
  • CPR certification is required before first field season.
  • S-212 Wildland Chainsaw training or willingness to obtain before first field season preferred.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
