DescriptionPrimary Purpose
The Accounting Manager supports the mission of The Fine Arts Association by managing daily accounting functions ensuring accurate financial records supporting budgeting processes and maintaining internal controls that protect organizational assets.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Financial Operations
- Manage accounts payable accounts receivable payroll coordination general ledger entries deposits and reconciliations.
- Prepare monthly and annual financial reports.
- Maintain accurate records of operating and restricted funds.
- Assist leadership with financial tracking and reporting needs.
Budgeting and Reporting Support
- Assist with annual budgeting and departmental budget tracking.
- Monitor expenses and revenue and report variances.
- Support cash flow tracking and basic financial forecasting.
Compliance and Internal Controls
- Maintain accounting policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with nonprofit reporting requirements including support for Form 990 preparation.
- Maintain secure and organized financial records.
Audits and Coordination
- Assist with preparation for annual audits and grant reporting.
- Work with external auditors payroll providers and financial partners as needed.
Team Collaboration
- Work closely with CEO and department leaders on financial needs.
- Provide clear financial information to non-financial staff.
Support administrative and finance-related projects as assigned.
QualificationsQualifications
- Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or related field preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience required.
- Nonprofit accounting experience preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Experience with accounting software (such as QuickBooks) and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong organizational communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage deadlines and multiple tasks.
Physical Requirements
- Office-based work using computer and standard office equipment.
- Ability to attend meetings in person or virtually.
- Occasional lifting up to 25 lbs.
