Job Summary

PRESS OPERATOR IIIGannett Publishing Services/USA TODAY Moines IAPressroom Tasks:Act as a lead operator for the following press functionsLead production and shift schedulingReel operations: Request deliver & stage newsprint rolls set-up reels prepare approved paste patterns for all roll sizes use web kites/devices as applicable monitor automatic pasters and/or make hand pasters assist with reel room reports as make-ready: Prepare press configurations check & prepare units for operation spot plates ink make-ready web-up conveyor set-up and folder calibration and press control and operations proficiency to reduce waste and achieve Optimum Quality standards which may include Press inch start & stop speed adjustments CMYK ink & water balance CMYK ink density registration & compensation web tension/nip & trolley settings slitter adjustments assisting with lost web recovery & press all general press maintenance including cleaning & replacing blankets wiping down press units installing checking & adjusting rollers folder clean out replacing cutting bars and other press maintenance as with press operator training and :Ensure timely and accurate execution of the following platemaking functionsLead production and shift schedulingCTP operations: Request deliver and stage platesPerform equipment calibration and make-ready: check prepare & operate equipment to image process bend & sort plate chemistry and supply :Always work in a safe manner and consistently utilize required safety equipment to promote top-of-mind safety awareness:Maintain a clean and safe work environment. Complete required annual OSHA safety training all machine safety guards are installed functioning properly and in report any potential safety hazards operational concerns and all accidents/injuries and near misses to press management and :Provide timely and accurate reports and information to the operations team and report equipment issues to scheduling needs to press management and supervisorsOther duties as assigned
