About the role

The Senior Project Officer supports the development implementation and evaluation of strategies and programs to improve education training and employment outcomes for Aboriginal people and meet the NSW Governments Closing the Gap commitments. The role provides support in fostering a culture of high standards and inclusive practice collaborating across the department to strengthen support systems and ensure equitable access to opportunities for Aboriginal students as they transition beyond school

About you

  • Provide high-level advice and support to Program Managers contributing to the effective planning implementation and delivery of programs that support Aboriginal people.
  • Demonstrate strong organisational skills attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Develop and manage partnership agreements and contracts including coordinating procurement and grants processes to ensure program objectives are achieved.
  • Prepare high-quality project documentation including status reports briefings budgets discussion papers and presentations to support informed decision-making.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Departments Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Departments Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.

Essential requirements of the role

  • This position is designated for the employment of an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person.
