Overview
This position reports to Residency Program Director and Touro College of Pharmacy Chair of Department of Pharmacy Practice. The Touro College of Pharmacy invites applications for 12-month positions at the rank of Post Graduate Year 2 (PGY2) Pharmacy Resident in critical care. This is a limited term position.
Responsibilities
The resident will complete learning experiences including core elective and longitudinal experiences at Mount Sinai Hospital and Touro College of Pharmacy. This individual will present at least one drug monograph or class review to P&T and complete at least one research project or medication use evaluation. They will serve as a co-preceptor and role model for students and PGY1 residents on introductory and advanced care pharmacy practice experiences and PGY1 experiences at Mount Sinai Hospital. The resident will provide didactic classroom teaching and recitation instruction on campus at Touro College of Pharmacy serve as a proctor participate in Touro College of Pharmacy admissions interviews and serve on hospital and college committees attending and participating in meetings and performing duties as appropriate and will provide reports and other documents as requested by Department Chairs Directors and Deans. They will contribute to new knowledge through research activities poster presentations publications obtaining grants and/or contracts clinical trials and other scholarly work including administering several accredited Continuing Education programs. The resident will participate in the Leadership Certificate program and the Teaching Certificate program at Touro College of Pharmacy. This individual will receive a Certificate of Residency upon completion of the residency year if they meet all criteria including:
- Licensure in the state of NY at last 2/3 of the program
- Completion of a scholarship research project in finalized manuscript ready for publication form
- Completion of the Leadership Certificate and Teaching Certificate programs from Touro College of Pharmacy
- Achievement of all Goals and Outcomes of Competency in Area R1 and a minimum of 85% of all remaining Competency Area Goals and Outcomes in PharmAcademic
- Achievement of a minimum of 80% Satisfactory Performance or greater for all Goals and Objectives in all required rotations in PharmAcademic
- Successful completion of all required and elective rotations
- No Goals and Outcomes of Competency scored as Needs Improvement in PharmAcademic
Qualifications
Education/Experience
- Doctor of Pharmacy required.
- ASHP accredited post-graduate training year 1 residency training
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- A high degree of interpersonal competency: professionalism diplomacy judgement and discretion required
- Strong commitment to teaching practice and scholarship
- Exemplary interpersonal communication and organizational skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
Certifications/Licensures
- Must be eligible for licensure in the state of New York obtaining the license to practice as a pharmacist in the state of New York for at least 2/3 (8 months) of the residency year
