The Montrose team in Pittsburgh is responsible for installing calibrating maintaining and operating field monitoring devices at various types of facilities in the Oil and Gas Industry.

    A DAY IN THE LIFE

    The Environmental Field Operations Lead position is responsible for scheduling all daily field assessments and ensuring operational and safety aspects of environmental monitoring programs specifically associated with upstream oil and gas operations. They will work closely with the program manager and project technical directors to execute environmental data collection ensure field quality control and will assume roles in both field and office. Utilizing their knowledge of various scientific disciplines they may collect synthesize study report and act based on data derived from measurements or other field observations.

    The following list of duties are responsibilities of the Field Operations Lead.

    • Participate and be engaged in the safety culture

    • Conduct safety assessments

    • Conduct QA/QC assessments

    • Conduct Operational assessments

    • Manage scheduling and daily assignments for a team of environmental field technicians which may include 24/7 operations during certain project phases

    • Manage and maintain all required PPE supplies and equipment for field personnel

    • Review monitoring data each day to ensure compliance

    • Manage perform and review documentation of calibrations checks of monitoring instrument

    • Perform all required quality programs written in site and regional quality plans

    • Provide updates and reports to manager(s)

    • Provide data and or reports for client per requests

    • Build and maintain trusted client relationships through responsive communication and high-quality field support

    • Demonstrate strong knowledge of safety procedures and safe work practices and adhere to all company and client safety training policies and regulatory requirements (including OSHA)

    • Represent the company in a professional manner

    • Maintain knowledge of applicable environmental regulations and standards

    • Maintain and protect company and client confidentiality

    • Participate in career development safety and maintaining required certifications

    • Perform any other duties assigned by client or manager(s)

    Ideal candidates will have prior field team management experience and a strong understanding of oil and gas field operations with demonstrated experience conducting field-based environmental sampling and monitoring activities. This position offers a unique opportunity to join a successful Environmental Engineering firm and will report to our office in Pittsburgh PA. This opportunity is approximately field-based position at sites in southwestern PA and northern WV. The successful candidate will complete several safety training courses prior to initiating any field activities and participate in a comprehensive safety and technical training program that includes both field and office-based components.

    YOUR EXPERTISE AND SKILLS

    To perform this job successfully individuals must be able to perform each duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skill and/or ability required.

    • Understanding of environmental sampling and monitoring including but not limited to air water waste soil and radiation.

    • Effective computer skills (Excel and Microsoft Office are essential) and proficiency with Android OS

    • Ability to work 12-hour shifts that may require overtime and weekends as necessary

    • Ability to perform in-field physical activities

    • Lifting up to 50 pounds several times a day

    • Overhead lifting of over 20 pounds

    • Bending stooping climbing ladders and crawling

    • Willingness to travel overnight up to 15% of the time

    • Valid drivers license

    • Preference will be given to candidates with an Associates or Bachelors Degree in Environmental Science Engineering Geology or other related science field from an accredited four-year college or university; related work experience in environmental sampling programs hydrocarbon detection and measurement TENORM emission testing or a mechanical background are also preferred but not required

    • Strong oral and written communication skills

    • Strong time management skills with the ability to work well under pressure with multiple deadlines

    • Organizational skills and attention to detail

    • Ideal candidate will possess 5 years of environmental consulting experience

    • Experience supporting Oil and Gas industry is preferred
