Overview
An adjunct in OMM is responsible to teach in the lecture and/or laboratory setting. Adjuncts are assigned to provide instruction in a portion of the curriculum for which they have suitable training and experience.
Responsibilities
Adjunct faculty members in the OMM department are responsible for the delivery of the OMM laboratory content in the 1st and 2nd year OMM courses. They are expected to:
- Table train osteopathic medical students in the OMM lab as well as present laboratory content.
- Facilitate an environment conducive for learning and help motivate students to learn.
- Work collaboratively as a member of the OMM department.
- Practical examination grading.
- Serve on TouroCOM committees as assigned.
- Provide reports budgetary information and other documents as requested by department chairs directors and deans
- Advise and mentor students
- Participate in medical student admission interviews
Qualifications
Education Preparation and Training
- DO or MD degree; DO degree preferred.
- Candidate must be board certified/board eligible in NMM/OMM or equivalent.
Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities
- Strong knowledge base in a specialty area of Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine.
- A demonstrated ability and desire to teach.
- Strong interpersonal skills and motivation to contribute to the growth and development of the OMM department and overall university.
Computer Skills
- Basic computer skills supporting the proficient use of the Microsoft Office Suite including PowerPoint Word Outlook and Excel as well as software used to prepare and administer written exams electronically and experience with Learning Management Systems.
