Job Summary

Position Summary

The Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at Michigan State University invites applications for afulltimeresearchassistantfocused on prenatal and child health. This position is in support of the Environmental influences on Child Health Outcomes (ECHO) project through the National Institute of Health. The mission of this longitudinal study is to provide real-time data from pregnancy toanalyze withlater child health outcomes.

The successful candidate will administer participant surveys in-person assessments collect biospecimensobtain informed consent coordinate participant incentives and perform other administrative tasks as needed. A successful candidate would bedetail orientedand havea high levelof interpersonal and communication skills.

This role is in-person at our Flint clinic site with at least 6 meetings per year at our East Lansing site. This is an off dated position funded until 12/31/2026 with possible extension contingent upon funding renewal.

Minimum Requirements

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in a health medical or scientific field; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in standard laboratory procedures and safety requirements and performing analytical and research techniques in public health and specimen professing; requires software knowledge in REDCap Excel and Outlook; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The position requires licensing and certification from CITI NIH Toolbox and NIH ECHO.

Desired Qualifications

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would beacquiredby completing a four-year college degree program in a health medical or scientific field; experience andexpertiseworking with research and consenting participants; anda high levelof problem-solving and communication skills.

Able to relate and provide support to participants; experience working in urban communities primarily within research; experience with medical terminology; knowledge of data confidentiality; skills working with different database systems includingREDCap.

Work Hours

Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm. May require some weekend and evening times based on research participant availability.
