The Department of Surgery is seeking an experienced and collaborative Senior Administrator to lead administrative and operational functions for the Division of Acute Care Surgery (ACS). This position plays a central role in supporting the divisions clinical educational and strategic activities in partnership with USF Health Tampa General Hospital (TGH) and USF-Tampa General Physicians (USFTGP).
Key Responsibilities
Clinical and Operational Oversight
Serve as the Clinical Division Administrator for Acute Care Surgery with responsibility for operational performance clinic efficiency provider productivity and divisional financial health.
Lead strategic planning and execution of operational priorities across clinical sites including oversight of new initiatives expansion efforts and contract/funding mechanisms.
Serve as a liaison to the ACS Service Line at TGH and administrative counterparts at USFTGP ensuring alignment on shared clinical goals.
Provide leadership in developing workflows reports and financial forecasts to support continuous improvement in patient care delivery.
Trauma Network Administration
Provide administrative oversight for the USF-side of the Trauma Network agreement including coordination of operational support for approximately 30 faculty members within the network.
Serve as the point of contact for contractual administration resource planning and divisional representation in discussions related to the agreement.
Collaborate with senior leadership to assess performance and implement process improvements that ensure the success of the Trauma Network partnership.
Educational Support (GME & UME)
Partner with Program Administrators and the Vice Chair of Education to ensure operational support of division-specific educational activities.
Support scheduling onboarding observerships and divisional contributions to medical student resident and fellow training programs.
Ensure divisional educational activities meet institutional standards and accreditation expectations.
Faculty & Staff Support
Lead coordination of faculty recruitment including applicant review scheduling proforma development and search committee support.
Supervise administrative and clinic-based support staff overseeing hiring onboarding training evaluation and development.
Lead strategic workforce planning to ensure appropriate staffing for a high-volume and rapidly growing division.
Fiscal Management
Manage all divisional financial matters including budget development monthly reporting expense management and clinical revenue performance.
Ensure alignment with USF TGH and USFTGP fiscal policies and collaborate with stakeholders for contract renewals and operational funding.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors degree and a minimum of five (5) years of relevant administrative or healthcare management experience including two (2) years of supervisory experience.
Strong financial acumen staff management experience and the ability to lead across multi-institutional partnerships.
Note: In accordance with Senate Bill 1310 applicants may substitute four (4) years of direct experience in lieu of a bachelors degree.
Preferred Qualifications
Masters degree in healthcare administration business or a related field
Experience supporting trauma surgery or high-acuity services in an academic health system
Familiarity with USF TGH and USFTGP systems and operational frameworks
Knowledge of GME/UME structure and academic medicine operations
Knowledge Skills & Abilities
Proven leadership and collaboration skills across academic and clinical settings
Strong financial operational and organizational expertise
Ability to manage complex workflows and competing priorities
Familiarity with academic medical center missions and support models
