DescriptionSenior Social Worker is responsible for providing social work intervention for Pediatric and Adolescent patients for the division of Hematology-Oncology and to the division of Social Work. Essential tasks include case coordination biopsychosocial assessments advocacy and individual group and/or family psychotherapy Additional duties include supervising registered social work interns (RCSWI) and social work interns to contribute to their professional development.
This position is time limited. This position requires a level II background check.
Responsibilities- Provide direct outpatient care to patients and their families in the division of Hematology-Oncology utilizing evidenced based therapeutic modalities.
- Assesses emotional psychological and developmental status of new and returning patients utilizing a biopsychosocial approach to develop a treatment plan which helps patients meet their treatment and preventive health promotion goals following current standards of practice
- Provide supervision and direct oversight to registered social work interns offering guidance on treatment approaches intervention techniques and diagnoses.
- Support registered interns with professional development and support surrounding patient care.
- Identifies andinitiates appropriateevidencedbasedtherapeutictreatmentmodalities designedtohelpthepatient reach their treatment goals and gain insight understanding and identify issues and behaviors whichadverselyaffecttheirlivesphysicalandmentalhealth
- Communicates and coordinates care with other providers as needed to assure the continuity of care for allpatients in their care.
Qualifications- Masters degree in social work
- Licensure in the State of Florida is a requirement.
Degree Equivalency Clause: Four years of direct experience for a bachelors degree.
Senate Bill 1310- The Florida Senate ( is conditional upon meeting all employment eligibility requirements in the U.S.
SB 1310: Substitution of Work Experience for Postsecondary Education Requirements
A public employer may include a postsecondary degree as a baseline requirement only as an alternative to the number of years of direct experience required not to exceed:
(a) Two years of direct experience for an associate degree;
(b) Four years of direct experience for a bachelors degree;
(c) Six years of direct experience for a masters degree;
(d) Seven years of direct experience for a professional degree; or
(e) Nine years of direct experience for a doctoral degree
Related work experience may not substitute for any required licensure certification or registration required for the position of employment as established by the public employer and indicated in the advertised description of the position of employment.
Minimum Qualifications that require a high school diploma are exempt from SB 1310.
