Quarry Mechanical Fitter (Margate Port Shepstone)

Our client a leading Manufacturing / Building / Quarry based company based in Margate is looking to fill the position of Quarry Mechanical Fitter.

Purpose of the Role:

The position reports to the Maintenance Team Leader. The successful incumbent will be expected to provide mechanical equipment maintenance service functions through scheduled inspections and the execution of plant equipment breakdown repairs and modifications including the reconditioning of mechanical components.

Key Responsibilities:

• Attend to plant equipment breakdowns.
• Repairs / Breakdowns and Modifications - carry out mechanical fitting work modification rigging flame cutting or welding work as directed by Mechanical Team Leader.
• Planned maintenance ensure all checks are done. All defects are repaired. All reports and logging are done to ensure high plant availability (above 90%).
• Installation work ensure all work done to South African installation standards. No remedial work ability to work unsupervised.
• Supervising assistants or learners ensure all assistants are trained to achieve high standard of workmanship and plan work efficiently.
• Safety and housekeeping know standards lock out procedure and adhere to it ensure all jobs are carried out safely.
• Liaison ensure successful interaction with relevant individuals.
• Staff Development attend courses as per training plan continuous self-development on current technology installed in factory/quarry.

Qualifications and Experience:

Essential Requirements:

• Grade 12 / Matric
• A Recognized Technical Qualification for Fitting and Turning (Min. N3)
• Must have served an apprenticeship
• A Trade Test certificate
• 3-5 Years Mechanical Experience.
• Technical Competencies on the following Quarry equipment:
  • Crushers
  • Screens
  • Conveyors
  • Loaders
  • Excavators

Advantageous Requirements:

• 5 years Mechanical Experience
• Cement or Quarry Industry experience
• A valid drivers licence (Code 8 or 10)
• SAP MRP training or experience
• Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA) of 1996 training
• Own reliable vehicle
• Reside within the South Coast Areas
• An understanding of mining equipment and machinery is advantageous
