Job Summary

Senior Safeguarding Advisor

At Brotherhood of St. Laurence (BSL) we are seeking a passionate Senior Safeguarding Advisor to join our dedicated Service Quality and Safeguarding team on a temporary basis (parental leave position) until May 2027.

Location: Fitzroy

Job Type: Permanent Full-Time working 38hours per week

Salary: $120000per annum based on skills and experience plus 12% superannuation.

About the role

The Senior Safeguarding Advisor plays a critical role in supporting the Head of Quality & Safeguarding to lead the development implementation and continuous improvement of best practice safeguarding systems and approaches across the BSL. This position provides expert advice to ensure all safeguarding activity relating to both children and vulnerable adults is survivor-centred compliant with relevant legislation and embedded in a culture of accountability and care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide operational leadership with the implementation of BSLs Safeguarding Strategy and Framework supporting the Head of Quality & Safeguarding to drive system-wide safeguarding priorities across portfolios
  • Act as a senior escalation point and primary contact for category 2 and 3 safeguarding incidents ensuring timely compliant and consistent case progression in line with BSL procedures
  • Work collaboratively and support the BSL Safeguarding and Incident Manager as required
  • Champion and embed a culture of safeguarding excellence ensuring organisational policies procedures and safeguarding systems meet or exceed legal regulatory and sector standards for both child and vulnerable adults

What we are looking for

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual who has a passion for supporting the mission of BSL and delivering excellence in your role.

To be successful in this role we are looking for someone who has the following key skills and experiences:

  • Experience in safeguarding including the prevention of sexual exploitation abuse and harassment (PSEAH) and child protection with demonstrated expertise advising on complex safeguarding matters
  • Proven capability in designing implementing and continuously improving organisational safeguarding systems policies and procedures within large and complex settings
  • Demonstrated experience leading and facilitating policy and community safeguarding consultations
  • Proficiency in overseeing safeguarding case management systems with a focus on governance integrity and continuous improvement
  • Demonstrated ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders to promote organisational accountability and embed a culture of safeguarding
  • Experience in reviewing and advising on safeguarding risk assessments including providing SME guidance to managers and operational leaders
  • Skilled in managing and resolving and escalating safeguarding-related complaints and concerns ensuring a timely ethical and compliant response
  • Proven experience overseeing the strategic development and implementation of safeguarding and family violence training initiatives to build capability and compliance across the organisation
