POSITION PURPOSE:

Collaborates with schools in the implementation of district initiatives aligned with Wake County Public School System (WCPSS) Board goals and strategic focus areas. Serves as a liaison and support for schools in strategic work targeted to improve and raise student achievement while assisting with the development implementation and monitoring of School Improvement Plans and ongoing Continuous Improvement processes. Supports the Area Superintendents with leadership development for district and school leaders.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs)

  • Extensive knowledge of innovative research-based instructional practices;
  • Extensive knowledge of continuous improvement processes;
  • Considerable knowledge of Microsoft Office specifically Microsoft Word Excel and Power Point; Google Apps;
  • Considerable knowledge of interrelated functions between human resources payroll and benefit processes;
  • Effective critical-thinking and problem-solving skills;
  • Excellent presentation and facilitation skills;
  • Demonstrated leadership and team building skills;
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion;
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form using a variety of communication techniques and tools to ensure the appropriate flow of information collaborative efforts and feedback;
  • Ability to gather and analyze data from a variety of database systems in order to present recommendations in an easily understood reportable format;
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with teachers administrators school system staff and the public.

EDUCATION TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelors degree from a regionally accredited college or university;
  • Five years K-12 teaching experience;
  • Leadership experience in facilitating the school improvement plan (SIP);
  • Experience designing and delivering professional development.

CERTIFICATION AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS

  • Must hold or be eligible for a North Carolina professional educators license with licensure in a teaching area;
  • Must hold and maintain a valid motor vehicle operators license according to the State of North Carolina requirements.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Masters Degree from a regionally accredited college or university;
  • Hold or be eligible for North Carolina Professional Educators License in an administrative license area of School Administrator-Principal or Curriculum Instructional Specialist.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Collaborates with and guides school leaders to ensure continuous improvement processes are aligned with district goals and strategic focus areas as reflected in the WCPSS Strategic Plan and that school-based plans include metrics for measuring progress in attaining identified goals and processes. Ensures compliance/adherence to state mandates on SIP.
  2. Guides schools ongoing monitoring processes and provide feedback tools and resources to effectively measure student and school outcomes through frequent communication and school visits. Attends school improvement meetings regularly and consult with district personnel to support school improvement teams.
  3. Guides school leaders in establishing school improvement framework processes and timelines that support and assist schools work in the planning and development of SIPs within WCPSS Board Policy and state legislation.
  4. Designs and facilitates ongoing professional development for school improvement chairs and school administrators to support them in leading and facilitating the implementation of school improvement processes to ensure the participation of all relevant stakeholders.
  5. Assists schools with the implementation of the Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) framework and Team Initiated Problem Solving (TIPS) model in support of continuous improvement.
  6. Participates in the structure and delivery of strategic planning and professional learning in District Principal Assistant Principal and Area meetings.
  7. Analyzes school regional and district data to assist Area Superintendent in identifying professional development resources and next steps needed for schools and school administrators.
  8. Partners with school staff and central services departments in the analysis and interpretation of school regional and district data to identify trends patterns and areas of improvement to impact student achievement.
  9. Collaborates with other Central Service departments in Magnet Special Education Academics Title 1 Intervention and Data and Accountability to support and impact instructional practices tiered instruction and student achievement.
  10. Attends statewide Restart training; ensures compliance to Restart plans/flexibilities.
  11. Remains abreast of Board of Education Regulations and Policy research-based instructional practices and current educational literature to further support school leaders work of continuously improving instruction implementing district initiatives and raising student achievement.
  12. Collaborates with Area Superintendents to design and facilitate ongoing professional development for school leaders assists with district committee responsibilities and provides on-going updates and feedback from work with schools.
  13. Performs other related duties as assigned.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This job operates in a professional office environment and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers scanners and copiers. The position at times must be able to come into direct contact with school system staff and staff members. Work is considered light physical work requiring the exertion of up to ten pounds of force. The work involves driving automotive equipment.
