The EQ Asia Equities ResearchTeam runs Sector Portfolios within the Emerging Asia Universe. It is a team of sector specialists who understand intimately the opportunity set in their universe and put money to work behind their convictions and ideas.

Key Responsibilities:

The position will report directly to EQs Head of Asia Equities Research.

• Employ intensive bottom-up fundamental research to drive the investment process which will help form differentiated views. Generate investment ideas conduct financial modelling and valuation analysis write up investment theses and discuss findings with colleagues who are focused on the same sector. Build and maintain financial models on companies. Monitor key portfolio companies on an ongoing basis and cultivate deeper corporate relationships with portfolio companies.

• Work closely with a small collaborative unit of like-minded professionals based entirely in Singapore. Support senior members of the team in underwriting stocks build and maintain financial models of Asian financials banks real estate insurance asset managers and other non-bank financials. Actively participate in regular discussions about market trends and developments contributing to the collective expertise of our team and company. Build strong trusting relationships internally with colleagues and externally with company management teams and industry contacts.

• Experienced and strong candidates may be considered for a portfolio management role within the sector.

• Stay vigilant regarding market conditions the regulatory environment potential risks and their economic impact on portfolio holdings

• Ensure strict adherence to all regulatory requirements industry standards and internal policies. Conduct portfolio management activities with the highest standards of ethics and integrity

Requirements:

• 10years of relevant sector experience including industry buy and/or sell side. Relevant experience in Asia Financials including insurance. Strong understanding of Emerging Asia financials sector and familiarity with public markets investing.

• Strong analytical competence and demonstrated capabilities in conducting fundamental research. Quantitative proficiency in analyzing financial aspects of a company and sector is expected.

• Passion for equity investing and philosophical alignment with the teams approach. Desire to succeed in an intellectually intense environment. Possess intellectual curiosity a passion for creative analysis and meticulous attention to detail. Ability to think broadly and creatively about a range of strategic issues affecting a business

• Unconventional and independent thinking. Willingness to challenge conventional wisdom. Comfortable with taking well-reasoned contrarian views when appropriate. Openness to changing your mind when investment theses do not play out as anticipated

• Strong communication skills for internal and external-facing purposes. Collaborative mindset with a strong desire to learn from and contribute to a team environment. Receptiveness to constructive feedback and willingness to engage in reasoned debate with colleagues. A good listener who can pick up nuances behind commentary and ask questions to elicit information effectively.

• Unwavering commitment to ethical conduct and professional integrity. Ability to make sound decisions under pressure maintaining a focus on long-term objectives
