Reporting to the Director of People & Culture the Learning & Development Manager is responsible for designing implementing and leading the hotels Learning & Development (L&D) strategy ensuring that Heartists and leaders have the skills knowledge and behaviors required to deliver exceptional experiences aligned with Fairmont Hotels & Resorts standards.
This role drives a culture of continuous learning service excellence and leadership development acting as a facilitator coach and strategic business partner.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Learning & Development Strategy:
Develop and implement a comprehensive Learning & Development strategy aligned with business objectives Fairmont standards and Heartists development needs.
Work closely with Department Leaders to define assess and update the hotels annual training plan.
Analyze data performance trends and operational needs to design continuous improvement strategies.
Onboarding and Heartist Experience:
Facilitate and ensure a world-class onboarding experience for all new Heartists.
Continuously update and evolve the onboarding program ensuring consistency impact and cultural alignment.
Collaborate with operational departments to ensure effective departmental integration.
Training Program Design and Facilitation:
Design and facilitate training sessions workshops and seminars (corporate and local) in areas such as:
Service excellence and guest experience
Leadership development
Technical and operational skills
Compliance health and safety
Use diverse and innovative learning methodologies: classroom training e-learning experiential learning and on-the-job training.
Create customized training programs to address performance gaps and specific business needs.
Collaboration Leadership and Talent Development:
Collaborate with Department Leaders to identify training needs and develop targeted learning solutions.
Actively participate as a member of the leadership team fostering a culture of engaged and developed leaders.
Serve as a mentor and coach supporting the professional growth of Heartists and leaders at all levels.
Develop support and monitor departmental trainers ensuring consistency and quality of training across the hotel.
Maintain strong relationships that facilitate coaching guidance and high levels of engagement.
Performance Evaluation and Impact Measurement:
Oversee the performance evaluation process ensuring proper execution of annual and probationary reviews.
Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs through feedback assessments performance metrics and KPIs.
Analyze results and propose continuous improvements to maximize learning impact.
Maintain accurate records of all training and development activities including participation and leadership data.
Partnerships and Continuous Improvement:
Establish and manage partnerships with external training providers industry organizations and regional L&D specialists.
Stay up-to-date on trends best practices and innovations in training and development within the hospitality industry.
Support corporate learning programs from Accor and Fairmont throughout the hotel.
Coordinate and support integration activities team building and organizational culture strengthening initiatives.
Perform other People & Culture-related projects and duties as assigned.
Recognition Programs and Organizational Culture:
Monitor and coordinate Heartist recognition programs both local and corporate.
Ensure proper implementation communication and follow-up of ongoing recognition programs.
Measure the impact of recognition initiatives on engagement motivation and organizational culture.
Heartist Events and Activations:
Plan organize and execute events activations and experiences for Heartists integrating learning culture and creativity.
Manage logistics for internal events celebrations team-building activities and corporate events.
Coordinate local execution of Accor and Fairmont corporate events and campaigns ensuring brand alignment.
Manage vendors schedules budgets and internal communications related to events.
Qualifications :
Physical Requirements
This position requires the ability to focus on the needs of Candidates Interns Heartists Leaders and Business Partners while remaining calm and courteous. Occasionally standing walking lifting and carrying up to 20 pounds.
Perform other reasonable work-related tasks as requested.
Education and Experience Required
Preferably a Bachelors degree in Hotel Management.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in L&D management.
Communication skills in both English and Spanish.
