Faculty Lab Instructor (DPT)

GENERAL SUMMARYLab Instructors have various responsibilities such as organizing/maintaining equipment preparing the lab environment monitoring student progress and facilitating student participation in learning lab instructor communicates with the lead instructor regarding student performance or issues that arise and ensures the delivery of consistent content and may assist with grading practicals and other required qualified candidate must have an entry-level masters degree or higher along with current certification with state board of chosen least 2 years of practical hands-on experience is required in a patient care setting in the successful candidate will have excellent oral communication and organizational skills be responsive to adult student needs and be able to work collaboratively in a team is a part-time 15-20 hours per week as scheduled DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESPrepares lab environmentOrganizes and maintains equipment; proposes equipment orders as neededTeaches lab component of courseMonitors student progress; gives feedback; facilitates student participation in learning activitiesAssesses student performance on practical oral written examinationsSupervises lab assistants (when available)Reports student grades at end of term to lead instructorCommunicates with lead instructor to ensure consistent content and testing and to recommend changes for upcoming semesterServes as student-to-university liaisonUpholds student and part-time faculty handbook policiesPromotes professionalism by modeling such behaviors inside and outside the classroom settingSelf-evaluates teaching performance; sets goals for improvementOTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESMay perform other duties and responsibilities that management may deem necessary from time to IN ORGANIZATIONReports to:Program DirectorPositions Supervised:Not applicableTECHNICAL MANAGERIAL & PEOPLE SKILLS REQUIREDTo perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skill and/or ability will be evaluated in part based on performance of each essential accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential and/or EXPERIENCEMasters degree or higherPrior practical hands-on experience in patient care setting in chosen specialization preferredExcellent organization and time management skillsExcellent oral communication skillsProfessional role modelAble to provide a nurturing respectful learning environmentResponsive to distance education adult student needsWorking knowledge of educational theory and motor skill developmentAble to work in a team environmentLICENSURE and/or CERTIFICATIONLicensed occupational physical or speech therapist from an accredited university with demonstrated expertise in the area being taughtCurrent certification with state board of chosen specializationTRAVELMinimal travel requiredBUSINESS COMPETENCIESCollaborates - Building partnerships and working collaboratively with others to meet shared Resilient - Rebounding from setbacks and adversity when facing difficult Trust - Gaining the confidence and trust of others through honesty integrity and Results - Consistently achieving results even under tough - Creating new and better ways for the organization to be Focus - Building strong customer relationships and delivering customer-centric ENVIRONMENTWork is performed primarily in a standard office environment but may involve exposure to moderate noise involves operation of personal computer equipment for six to eight hours daily and includes physical demands associated with a traditional office setting e.g. walking standing communicating and other physical functions as Instructors are hired for specific assignments which may vary by term. Lab Instructors teaching in a Flex program with weekend labs receive a differential payment of $10 per hour in addition to hourly rate. Compensation is a reasonable estimate and will be determined based on years of clinical and teaching experience.
