Are you looking to work with a growing multinational fast paced organisation If so then this could be the opportunity for you. We are looking for someone to Head our Group Compliance team based in our Dublin office (hybrid) who will act in the capacity of the second line of defence for the Monument Re Group. The role will support the Group Chief Risk Officer in providing to our regional compliance colleagues advice/guidance and oversight. This is not a regulatory approved role and has three direct reports.
Responsibilities
- Working with our regional Heads of Compliance and colleagues oversee the Groups compliance framework ensuring it is sufficient to fully meet relevant legislation / regulations in the countries in which we operate and to oversee the effective operation of the same (the Regional Heads of Compliance have local reporting lines);
- Act as a central point of contact for Monuments regional Compliance functions businesses and Group functions for compliance related queries by providing timely advice / guidance / support;
- Be responsible for the development and achievement of the annual Group Compliance teams plan including assurance work;
- Accountable for updating maintaining and promoting adherence to Group compliance policies ensuring these are reviewed at least annually and presented on a timely basis to governance committees for approval. Communicate relevant policies to the Group businesses;
- Ensure the Group Compliance team remains in step with international best practice by monitoring and keeping abreast of anticipated developments in compliance practice new regulation industry practice rules and requirements and chair the Horizon Scanning Forum;
- Assist Monuments businesses in the identification and oversee the resolution of regulatory incidents and breaches;
- Ensure the timely and accurate reporting to the Group Board and Board Committees and represent the Group Compliance team at any governance committees and Boards when necessary;
- Ensure Monument colleagues are receiving adequate training on regulatory topics and ensure awareness of the Groups standards in this respect is maintained and refreshed periodically;
- Provide compliance support / guidance to the Groups projects and initiatives by actively reviewing and challenging the business first line of defence particularly in relation to corporate acquisitions and transfers; and
- Act as line manager for two Group Compliance Managers who specialise in Data Protection and Financial Crime respectively and a Compliance Analyst.
Role Requirements
- A seasoned and appropriately qualified Compliance professional with a minimum 5 years multi-jurisdictional life and pensions experience preferably with knowledge of reinsurance. Experience in the investments field would also be an advantage;
- Experience of acquisition due diligence preferred;
- Demonstrable strong understanding of regulatory principles and practices and compliance framework best practice;
- Excellent experience of promoting a compliance culture and awareness within an organisation;
- Ability to keep abreast of regulatory change and understanding and interpreting regulatory requirements;
- Experience in a Group role supporting / coaching colleagues in all aspects of compliance;
- Good line management experience;
- Strong understanding of/ability to identify regulatory risks to the Group as part of both BAU and project work; and
- Experience of managing relationships with regulators.
- Excellent interpersonal/negotiating/communication skills (verbal and written) and proven experience collaborating with colleagues at all levels in a business and across different jurisdictions;
- Excellent work ethic with planning and organisation skills;
- Pragmatic approach with a focus on stakeholder outcomes;
- Team player but with the ability to also work autonomously;
- Self-starter flexible with an enthusiastic approach;
- Willingness to challenge the status quo;
- Objective analytical and lateral thinking individual with an eye for detail; and
- Committed to maintaining high levels of integrity and ethical conduct.
