Overview
The Adjunct Instructor works with the Program Chair and Lead Course Instructor to teach program courses. The Adjunct Instructor is committed to equity diversity and inclusion and advises and supervises masters degree candidates actively participates in faculty collaborative learning and demonstrates scholarly productivity.
Responsibilities
- Teach graduate course sections (on campus and online) in one or more of the following areas
- Middle school and high school mathematics methods courses
- Curriculum and assessment in mathematics courses in grades 7-12
- Mathematics content instruction
- Courses are pre-designed in a standard format. Participation in an Adjunct/Full Time Instructors Online Learning Community is expected.
- May supervise candidates during clinical practice.
- Support program advisement for candidates.
- Uphold the missions and values of Touro College and the GSE.
Qualifications
- Masters Degree required earned doctorate preferred in Mathematics Mathematics Education or related field
- Current certification in Teaching Mathematics in grade 7-12
- Successful classroom teaching experience Grades 7-12 of diverse students
- Successful graduate-level teaching experience face-to-face and/or online
- Successful leadership experience
- Experience in course and program design
- Successful experience supervising degree candidates in clinical field placements if assigned for clinical supervision
- Commitment to culturally relevant and sustaining pedagogy
- Knowledge of NYSED teacher certification examinations
Skills
- Excellent communication teaching and interpersonal skills
Computer Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word Excel Power Point Outlook
- Proficiency in online learning platforms including Canvas and Zoom
Travel
- Occasional travel to Program Meetings at Touro College locations.
