The Preschool Mandarin and Music/Performing Arts Teacher inspires young learners through engaging developmentally appropriate language music and performing arts alignment with the GESS mission to provide holistic values-based education within an inclusive and intercultural community the teacher nurtures creativity confidence collaboration and a lifelong love of learning in children aged 18 months to 6 years old. This role contributes to the social emotional cognitive and physical development of each child while fostering curiosity respect and global mindedness.
This role ensures a cohesive and thriving language and music culture within the school community;
To ensure that the Language and Creative Arts programmes positively develop students learning understanding skills knowledge and appreciation of the Arts and Mandarin as second language.
To support in ensuring that Language and Creative Arts at GESS have an engaging rigorous enriching programme that is consistent with the defined mission and values of GESS.
Knowledge and Experience
- Appropriate experience and teaching qualification.
- Articulate and effective written and oral communication in English and Mandarin as the classes with be conducted in these languages.
- Must have previous teaching experience in a Preschool setting: knowledge of the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme and the Reggio Emilia philosophy is desirable.
- Demonstrated experience in delivering hands-on inquiry-led and play-based learning within an early childhood setting.
- Ability to integrate music and movement meaningfully into the preschool curriculum to support cognitive linguistic and social-emotional development.
- Skilled in leading age-appropriate musical experiences including singing rhythm work movement and the use of simple instruments.
- Knowledgeable in designing a curriculum for second language learning.
- Strong classroom management skills grounded in positive guidance and respectful relationships.
Technical and Soft Skills
- An efficient and effective administrator.
- Enthusiastic and passionate when working with young children; attentive and responsive to their individual needs interests and developmental stages.
- Demonstrates high levels of professionalism flexibility honesty and integrity in all interactions with children colleagues and families.
- Collaborative team member who contributes actively to planning reflection and ongoing curriculum development.
- Culturally sensitive and globally minded.
- Able to communicate confidently and fluently with clarity and precision to inspire and instil confidence with small and large groups via written and spoken word.
