Role Overview:
As aMission PlanningSoftwareEngineeryou will be anindividual contributorontheFallback&MissionPlanning teamwithinthe Autonomous Vehicles Organization.In this roleyou will provide cross-functional technicalexpertisefor the fallback autonomy stack andmultipleActive Safety and Driver Assistanceproducts.TheFallback & Mission Planningteamis responsible fordesigning and implementing motion planning and optimization algorithmsto providestate-of-the-artcapabilities to customersin the domain ofActive SafetyAdvanced Driver Assistance SystemsSuperCruise2 andSuperCruise3.
Whatyoullbe doing:
Lead the generation of technical solutions including the specification of requirements and the functional decomposition analysis development implementation and verification of new or enhanced functionality within the Active Safety/Autonomous Drivingplanningsoftware domain
Contribute to existing Active Safety Driver Assistance andSuperCruisedevelopment
Partner with Safety Systems Engineering andProducttogenerate requirements for onboard systems.
Ensuredeliverables meetperformance targetsand safety constraints.
Develop embedded software algorithms to GM productionstandardsandintegrate resultingfeaturesinto product line
Lead technical reviewsand drive software engineering best practicesacross the team.
Establish verification and validation strategies for thedeveloped software including simulation hardware-in-the-loop and on-roadtestingvalidation gates.
Lead root-cause investigations for complex integration issues using data-driventechniquesand principled experimentation.
Improve and deliver reliable software through continuous integration automated testing and code reviews.
Demonstrate continuous improvement of subsystem features and functions through the identification and resolution of issues as raised by product teams
Support problem resolution activities (durability warranty etc.)
Help define build and embodyGMengineering culture and principles
Qualifications:
BS MS or PhD in Computer Science Robotics or equivalent experience
2 years ofautomotive software engineering experience
Extensive background withC/C/Pythonin a large distributed production environment
A demonstratedtrack recordof building high qualityautonomoussoftwaresystemsmeetingmodern software design best practices
Deepexpertisein Controls Planning orOptimizationsystem design
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Self-motivation and passion tocode encourage best practices and constantly improve
Passion for self-driving technology and its potential impact on the world
Bonus points!
A background in robotics ROS or the AV/ADAS industry
Familiarity with MISRA C ASILratedsoftwaredevelopmentandsafety critical software development
Experience developing high-quality software under significant latency and performance constraints.
