Job Title: Architectural Estimator
Location: Walsall West Midlands
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and detail-driven Estimator to establish and develop our estimating function as
we commence fabrication of aluminium windows doors curtain walling and shopfront systems. This is a key
position responsible for producing accurate quotations liaising with clients and internal teams and supporting
the successful delivery of projects from tender stage through to manufacture.
The ideal candidate will bring strong technical knowledge of aluminium fabrication excellent commercial
awareness and the ability to manage multiple tenders simultaneously while maintaining precision and deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
Estimating & Commercial
Prepare accurate competitive quotations for large-scale projects including windows doors curtain
walling and shopfront systems.
Analyse drawings specifications and tender documents with meticulous attention to detail.
Negotiate prices with suppliers and subcontractors to secure cost-effective solutions.
Suggest value-engineering options to improve project profitability while maintaining quality and
compliance.
Optimise specifications to meet UK Building Regulations and client requirements.
Produce clear professional written quotations for both client and internal use.
Technical & Systems
Use Logikal and similar estimating software to prepare technical and cost calculations.
Interpret technical drawings confidently; CAD knowledge is desirable.
Check quotes order materials and coordinate specifications with production teams.
Ensure accurate technical communication with the factory/shop floor to support manufacturing
processes.
Coordination & Communication
Liaise with architects contractors local authorities suppliers and clients to clarify requirements and
resolve queries.
Coordinate subcontractors and suppliers including negotiating pricing for materials such as glass and
hardware.
Maintain organised records of estimates correspondence and project documentation.
Manage multiple tenders simultaneously prioritising deadlines and client expectations.
Continuous Improvement
Identify potential project risks or design issues at pre-manufacturing stage and propose solutions.
Contribute to building and improving the estimating department processes and systems.
Support business growth through commercially sound estimating and client engagement.
Skills & Experience Required
Proven experience estimating large-scale façade or fenestration projects.
Strong background in aluminium fabrication estimating (essential).
Proficiency using Logikal or equivalent technical estimating software.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings accurately.
Excellent negotiation skills with suppliers and subcontractors.
Strong organisational and administrative skills.
Experience liaising with technical stakeholders and clients.
Ability to work independently while supporting team collaboration.
Desirable
CAD proficiency.
Experience within a manufacturing environment producing uPVC windows doors or roofing systems.
Demonstrated success in improving margins through specification optimisation and supplier negotiation.
