Baker Hughes Subsea Production Systems and Subsea Services Materials and Processes Engineering Department are looking for a dynamic enthusiastic new team member to join the services team based in Dusavik Stavanger. The services team is part of a multinational department providing materials welding and NDE support to both large and small subsea production projects covering the full catalogue of Baker Hughes Subsea Production Systems products along with providing support to the maintenance and repair operations in the workshops at Dusavik.

As a Engineering Specialist - Materials Science and Engineering you will be responsible for:

  • Provide support during the design process review customer requirements provide input to scope of work offer materials selection and / or welding advice respond to customer technical clarifications
  • Provide definition and clarification of Baker Hughes requirements produce Baker Hughes specifications review vendor procedures and answer vendor concession requests.
  • Provide support to supply chain including vendor qualifications audits and pre-production meetings.
  • Provide support to the workshop during production and address any material or welding issues that arise


Fuel your passion
To be successful in this role you will:

  • Hold a bachelors degree in Materials Science / Materials Engineering or equivalent
  • Have extensive experience with the manufacture of metallic materials
  • Have relevant industrial experience
  • Be familiar with oil & gas related international standards and regulations
  • Be proficient in English both written and verbally
  • Have agood collaborative drive and skills to work in a cross-functional environment
  • Be conscientious and detail orientated

Additional desirable qualities include:

  • Good welding experience (IWE Diploma) both design and production related
  • Experience with non-destructive examination techniques
  • Experience with various failure modes and corrosion mechanisms
  • Experience with non-metallics coating application heat treatment and cathodic protection
  • Norwegian language
